Jackson Star Wars Bass Guitar. I'm looking for it
pete.young replied to police squad's topic in Bass Guitars
Amazing. I remember Martin Judd from the shop in Palace St and bought several things from him, including a Futurama Coronado bass and the first Back Door album. RIP. -
I prefer Hank's at the far end. Some cool gear in there. At highly inflated London prices though!
Isn't Hanks owned by the same people who own Music Ground and several of the other businesses on that Street? I wouldn't miss the Pillars of Hercules but woe betide any one who lays a finger on the Princess Louise.

Jay bravely ventured into the wilds of Suffolk to pick up a drum kit from me, destined for the school where he works. Not many people would go that extra mile (lterally!) for their employers, so that tells you what a fine fellow he is. A very pleasant transaction all round, thanks Jay!
Wunjo's is split into 3 shops? Guitar, bass and keyboard, all upstairs in different shops.
Not any more. Acoustic guitars and keyboards are now in what used to be Chris Bryant's old shop on the corner, Electric guitars are in the shop which used to have the keyboards and basses are in the basement of the same shop. This is IMHO a victory for Acoustic guitarists, who can now try instruments out without being blown away by loud electrics in the next bay.

I've just sold a bass to Chris. Excellent communication and immediate payment. I would be happy to deal with him again, recommended. Thanks Chris.

Mapex Voyager compact drum kit for sale, black and chrome with Remo Weather king heads. Kit comprises: 18" bass drum 12" floor tom 12" snare 8" and 10* high toms Includes ride cymbal plus stand, hi-hat, bass drum pedal and stool. This is a small kit suitable for a younger player or for a quiet jazz / folk gig or where space is at a premium. It's a good quality kit and not to be confused with the cheapy kids drum kit specials on eBay. It's a few years old and not part of Mapex's current range. It has spent most of its life taking up storage space, after my son decided that being a drummer wasn't so attractive after all. More photos on request. £125 collected from Ipswich, or we can arrange to meet somewhere local. I don't think it's going to be possible to post this unless someone can think of a way.

Michael Tobias Designs Kingston Artist 5-string active bass in Amber Gloss for sale. If you're looking for a lightweight (8lbs 7oz), 35" scale Stingray 5 soundalike with a 19mm string spacing then this is for you. It's a great sounding bass with a lot of punch from the Alnico humbucker, very light and well balanced and the asymmetric neck profile makes it feel very comfortable to play. The colour is Amber Gloss which looks a lot deeper and richer in the flesh than in my terrible camera phone pics. Full specifications are here: http://www.mtdkingst...sses/artist.htm There are no photographable marks on the body or neck of this bass. The only blemish is a slight scuffing on the top of the headstock. Apart from that it's a good as new. It's recently been set up with DR Sunbeams and the price includes a very handsome burgundy red and black MTD gig bag with leather straps and the MTD logo embroidered onto the pocket. For sale at £350. Not looking for trades. I would prefer to have this collected from Ipswich, or meet up in the surrounding area or London. I'd prefer not to ship since I don't have a hard case, but I''ll pack it well if you wish to organise a courier. .

£35 posted.
The person that fixes things is a technician and the one that designs it is an engineer. In the U.K. there are Chartered Engineers (CEng), and Incorporated Engineers (IEng).
I understand this: I have an honours degree in mechanical engineering and was a member of I.Mech.E, before jobs in manufacturing industry disappeared during the Thatcher years and I retrained as a computer scientist. Galling it may be, but that's still not the way it works in practice, 30 years later.
Tbe person that mixes live sound would surely go through the arts route at college/uni finally achieving a BA. rather than a BSc. So not an Engineer.
It depends. The pinnacle of sound recording courses in the UK is widely acknowledged to be the Tonmeister course at the University of Surrey. The entry requirements are maths and physics at A level and the syllabus includes a lot of moderately difficult audio engineering maths. People graduate with a B.Mus from the Faculty of Music. Not that you will find too many Tonmeisters mixing the house PA down at the Dog and Duck. If your point is that one can't be an engineer unless one has a B.Sc. I disagree. Cambridge has a fine engineering department and doesn't award any science degrees.
Or a Baja Sexto. Not quite the same but getting there.
A Bajo Sexto is nothing like a guitarron. It has 12 strings and is more like an oversized guitar.

I have had very good results from the MXR but if I were in the market now I would be looking at the Keeley Pro, which has all the right knobs and monitoring.

Markbass CMD121P change voltage from Europe to UK
pete.young replied to moncur's topic in Amps and Cabs
MarkBass themselves say that resetting the operating voltage is a job for their service centres. That bottom jumper says 120V - I'd be wary of going anywhere near that unless I was absolutely certain it wasn't going to cause the thing to be set to US voltage. Also worth noting is that if the amp is still under warranty you will invalidate it by messing with the voltage selection. -
212 8ohm cab - and new amp - suggestions?
pete.young replied to Mokolotivet's topic in Amps and Cabs
A Reidmar and one EBS212 will surely be loud enough for anything not requiring PA support? Given you are close to Sweden, I would be looking at TKS Engineering cabs. -
Music produktiv have stock but the price is less attractive.
If you go to eBay and search for Ultimate Pro Audio and then message the shop owner, he'll make up whatever length cable you want and whatever jack plugs you prefer. Good value too. Or obbm on here is well worth a punt and comes highly recommended.
Thanks for the heads up but I make all my own cables. -
That works doesn't it... although I'm probably stating the obvious when I say a longer lead would be preferable so the pouch can be mounted the other way around?
Yes, I'd agree with that. All I have to hand at the moment though is really short patch cables or 1m + which is too long. I can't use right angles on my bass, they won't fit in the socket. -

Excellent, now I finally have a use for those pointless phone-pockets that are supplied with laptop backpacks and are too small to hold a modern smartphone!
