Mind you, I don't see how you'd know it was an SB401...

Here's a wild idea - how about we hold off posting unsubstantiated rumours, gossip, conjecture, unattributed emails and allegations from former endorsers until we actually have some substantial facts to discuss?
Me too - I've just bought a Seagull Grand Sunburst GT from Wunjo's , a tiny parlour guitar with a 14-fret neck to the body and a much bigger sound than it has any right to have. Marvellous.
It might be worth taking the top off in that case. It's been a while since I opened up my lm2 and I can't remember if there are any more fuses inside the amp.
There is a slow blow fuse in a fuse holder under the AEC connector on the back of the amp. You could test that to see if it has blown and if so replace it. If it blows again immediately, I'm sorry to day that an expensive repair may be on the cards. Is it still under warranty?
You are pretty much stuck with the Roland lead unless you want to build one yourself. I never had a lead fail but they are more flimsy than instrument leads and need to be looked after.
I built the pedalparts ts808 kit which was excellent. Did the straight kit for guitar. There is also a much smaller version without buffers which might leave enough room for a blend circuit, which pedalparts also have. Talk to the diy effects thread for modding ideas there are some very capable builders there.

I keep meaning to build one of the Blue Box clones, with the octave switch.
Maybe I'll pick one up after Xmas.

My son built the poodleparts kit which works spectacularly well with guitar, haven't tried it on Bass.

A bit harsh!

Indeed. I never really got Shane McGowan until I started playing in a Pogues covers band and started to hear the detail. Christmas is only as far away as the next gig :-) Broad Majestic Shannon is magnificent too.
This is a nice version for people who don't like Shane much.

I like this lot for the sentiment (not work safe)

Worst is probably a toss up between Cliff and Spaceman came a travelling. Or anything by Chris de Burgh really.
I think that if Wunjo have a stand at the bass guitar show, you might get a chance to exhibit there without having to become an official exhibitor.
There may also be an opportunity with bass gear if they are going, drop molan on this forum a note and see.

I didn't know the LH500 has a parallel effects loop, well there ya go. Bit naff as there's no blend control either, which kinda restricts it somewhat.

I don't think it does either. Pretty sure it's serial.

You are SO not going to play this sitting down.
[/quote]
Play it? I would just hang it on the wall as a piece of modern art. It probably sounds like sh*t anyway with those strings and pickups.

I would love to, but - and I should have specified in my OP - I'd be looking to spend about half the cost of those bad boys.

My Japanese not for export P has a much slimmer neck than the normal precision.
I still have a soft spot for the Korg DT10, which is very easy for a myopic git like me to see. But since I got my TC Polytune clip-on, I don't use it - looks like it'll be moved off the board when I need some more real estate.
