Basically, I'm looking to find out if with the set up I have that, as has been advised to me, that to use a Sansamp Preamp will give me the sound I need to get the sound I need for an Iron Maiden Tribute Band.I have a Line6 PRO XT, but I just wanted to enquire to other bassists what they would suggest, as the Sansamp set up looks more straight forward than the Pro XT, as I'm not into gadgets and that.Plus, to download stuff via USB is completely wasted on me. Advice would be appreciated.Marshall Head, and 2 Marshall Bass 4 x 12's being used live.
Hi there im selling my hartke head ha2500 with a hartke pro1800 cab, both in perfect condition. they never been gigged just used at home for practise volume goes from 0-10 never went more than 1 as those thinks are really loud!!!! looking for £250 collected from york or leeds. i will take some photos tonight regards Antonio
Hi Antonio, could you post the pictures, as I may be interested, cheers -
Many thanks for the feedback, and I do appreciate, in the financial climate at the minute, the prices they were going for on Ebay, would'nt be what you'd get realistically now. Not everything thats old is good, as you only have to watch the Antique Roadshow...lol I play through a Fender Bassman rig at minute , myself, so looking to use 2 x 4x12 bass cabs with Marshall Head. (Valve amp)
Welcome, we've been looking for that Caps Lock key for a while now......
Such a simple thing, to be honest.Someone actually sent me a message about that, but I thought it indicated shouting or something 10 years ago.But I dont think its all that important. At my age, seeing the screen is tasking enough.Big letters help, as you need good eye sight to see out of these Jamjars!!!lol

I just happen to have a Hiwatt 200 Custom Bass Amp head, and its an early 80's Model. From what I believe, these amps reach a good price and sought after. But I'm not that sure, as anyone that put a price on it were talking in the £1300 region.I would'nt have thought you'd have hit that price for it.They were quotes, and I'm sure if they'd have been buying, it may have been a different story. Why do these amps get such a price, when recent gear, having less use, dont seem to get the price.?Just an observation, and would invite any opinions on same. Cheers.
These are all really interesting, especially the fact that "by ear" is in the lead at the moment. In the classroom, this is one of the hardest skills to explain and incorporate into a lesson when dealing with large numbers of students. It also demands quite a high level of skill and motivation early on, something that's probably worth exploring. Keep it up people, this is useful stuff! Harry
I think that the ''by ear'', terminology will definitely be the one.Well with older bassists. The ones who remember vinyl, and lifting the needle back so many times to catch that particular note. Most people now can have software to play them through the songs, and it sounds like a xylaphone type keyboard playing the stuff.More like an idiots guide to learning.I just could'nt grasp it at all.But if I hear a piece, 9 times out of ten, ill grasp whats happening, fairly soon. But as always, its personal choice. But the main thing is practise. Not nessesarilly with others, but on your own playing.Posture to playing is important as is the height the instrument is played. So a lot more to it.But basically, I'll go for the ear test. WHERE DO YOU START ON THIS ONE?BEEN PLAYING BASS SINCE MY TEENS, AND ALWAYS WANTED TO START AN IRON MAIDEN TRIBUTE BAND, AND NOW AT 50, I'M DOING IT.I HAVE A FENDER BASSMAN RIG AND USE A LINE6 PRO XT PROCESSOR, AND A WIRELESS SYSTEM BY SAMSON.ALSO HAVE A MARSAHLL 4 X 12 CAB WITH AN 80'S MARSHALL BASSHEAD.THE BASSES ARE THE FENDER P BASS STEVE HARRIS SIGNATURE IN ROYAL BLUE WITH MAPLE NECK, BADDASS 2 BRIDGE AND SEYMOUR DUNCAN 1/4 POUNDER PICKUPS, WITH THE NORMAL HARDWARE.THE STEVE HARRIS P BASS WITH WEST HAM CREST WITH SAME SPEC AS SIGNATURE ALTHOUGH MATT FINISHED NECK AND SLIMMER NECK.A CUSTOM P BASS WITH ROSEWOOD NECK WITH GOLD HARDWARE AND WHITE WITH MIRROR SCRATCHPLATE.FENDER JAZZ DELUXE WITH ROSEWOOD NECK. AND A COUPLE I MESS ABOUT ON A YAMAHA BB604 ACTIVE, AND A IBANEZ GSR200.A CHEAP BASS, WITH A CRACKING ACTION.SO ITS A MAIDEN TRIBUTE BAND, JUST NEED THE FINAL GUITARIST, AND OFF WE GO.HAVE DONE THE 80'S ROCK THING, ENJOYED IT, BUT THIS IS MY CHANCE TO PLAY THE STUFF OF MY FAVOURITE BASSIST'S.ALSO LIKE EVEN THOUGH COMPLETE DIFFERENT STYLE, GEDDY LEE, VICTOR WOOTEN, GEEZER BUTLER, BILLY SHEEHAN AND A BASSIST ON YOUTUBE MARLOWE DK, WHOS VERY GOOD. THATS ME, COULD RAMBLE ON, BUT IT WOULD ONLY GET BORING FOR ME, AND ALSO YOURSELVES.
