1.
It overran by about 3 months and £40k!
Ouch - I'm guessing it's a case of I've started so I'll finish - I'm sure it will be well worth it in the end :)

  2. That's why I got it

Took it along to two rehearsals today (Big Band and Show rehearsal) and went down very well for both - so really pleased with it - got to adjust to the slightly shorter scale, the fewer strings and the frets (my usual bass is the OW 35" fretless 5) but other than that it's really enjoyable to play and sounds great through my new Barefaced Compact :)

  3. Thanks Thom

Glad it reached you safely and even happier that you like it - it's a great combo which served me well - enjoy :)

EDIT : Thom is a good guy - prompt payment and good comms

  4. I guess my PM made sense then :)

As soon as the bass arrives I'll leave you some proper feedback

    EDIT: for bass arrival...

Bass arrived this morning in time for rehearsal at the weekend so I'm happy

Good comms throughout, easy transaction, no problems here...

  5.
...and yet more (you can see that the first layer of plasterboard/drywall on ceiling is 75% done):
Just checking in to see how it's progressing - there's some serious work going into this build, how many layers of plasterboard are you going to end up with?

  6. Just been looking over the score and had the click to play along with too.

Very playable just the odd 8 bar corner with too many semiquavers that go by too quick for me but otherwise it's all cool, really looking forward to it :)

EDIT for the octaves - I've never played so many in a single show... ever!

  7. You're right - I'm sure the audience wouldn't notice, I could use my fretless and nobody would have an issue with it, guess I'm just trying to authentic.

That said I've been told the band is on stage for this show rather than in the pit so that'll be way more exposure than I'm used to for this kind of gig and we've costumes too :)

  8.
What better excuse to you need to get another bass! - You need a Stingray in your arsenal for sure :)
Don't really need an excuse as such (I work and save hard to be able to afford such things) but it helps to justify the outgoing in the current climate

As for a Stingray - never really thought about one, but I wouldn't discount it... I remember the bass player in a Soul band I played in for a while (I was playing Trombone at the time) had one and from what I recall it sounded pretty good and looked cool - black, black, maple (my prefered combination), so if one was available at the right price I wouldn't rule it out...
