It’s called networking. Always a good investment whether you get paid or not.

bars and bars and bars… reminds me of the pit percussionist who had rests and rests and rests on his sheet. So much that he briefly nodded off and when he came to he lost his place but thought it must be about now. So he grabbed a beater and struck the adjacent gong with a massive reverberating sound. Which stopped the whole orchestra. He turned round, bowed to the audience and announced ‘Dinner is Served’ in sonorous tones. sorry, carry on the discussion.

Yes, keep one. I’m well past it and will probably never play ever again. But I’ve got one bass, one amp and one cab. And a few leads. Otherwise I might suffer a crisis of finality.

It’s not good, Pete. -
What am I listening to right now? The Proms disco night on TV. It’s awful.

DB players have been sticking their cabs up on chairs since time immemorial. Not only is it downright ugly on stage but at that height it’s not particularly effective. Getting the cab up to above waist level, or even up to the shoulders takes the output closer to the ears. Also the sound will be well above the point where the bass is most microphonic and prone to feedback. And I agree with putting a high pass filter in the chain to bring out the mids. That way you should be able to hear yourself clearly. I’ve been using a low rise speaker stand - goes up to shoulders - with a platform on top. Mine is notched out to accept the Genzler 10-2 and drilled for a 10” Wizzy. That way no mods are required to the cab. And, ahem, it’s for sale in the amps and cabs section.

Just a heads up, if the mods will permit. I’ve got my Genzler cab for sale in the Amps and Cabs section. It’s been my go-to and it’s only for sale because I haven’t played for a year and I’m starting to get rid of all my stuff. My Bryant is in my study looking accusingly at me as I type this but I’ve reached the tender age of 83 and a half and I’d be an embarrassment to be seen in any band these days.

This is a versatile bass cab that I’ve used with my double bass but have heard a Fender Precision demoed through it. It consists of a 10” neo woofer with a vertical array of four 2” full range neos. This produces a solid bass with a clear mid and a ‘quick’ response. Condition is as new . Retail is £750 so £300 seems fair. I’d prefer collection or could meet up somewhere close. I’m approx 5 miles east of Evesham. Stand is not included but could negotiate.

If you’re prepared to destring you could address the underside of E with a countersink bit. All the holes on the front would be the same diameter and the E ball would sit snugly. -
