  1. I presume, from the lack of replies, that no one’s got one. Hardly surprising perhaps in view of the price just north of £900 with shipping. Can we open this up to 12” vs 10”. As I said I’ve been used to tens for many years and I’m wondering whether I should try a twelve. Anyone?
  2. Anyone tried one yet. I’ve been using tens for a number of years with success but wondering whether a twelve would open the sound up a bit, allow it to bloom. Wondering whether to commit a shed- load to those folks at Bass Direct.
  3. Overwater aren’t anymore. They directed me to Laurence who I have dealt with before - I sold him a DB once - but his email address has failed. I have emailed AI in America but got no reply. It’s all very strange. I’ll carry on with my Genzler for now and probably direct my hard-earned somewhere else.
  4. Do AI have a UK presence these days. They seem to have gone off my radar and I need a Clarus. Don’t fancy buying via Thomann.
  5. Just wait until December when you’ll have to compete for space with the bloody tree!
  6. It used to be every time I got a new DB, Mrs B got a new horse. Things started to get expensive. And smelly.
  7. I find recording exhausting. On the other hand I’ve always enjoyed gigging, since the late fifties in fact. OK, I’ve driven from Banbury to Fleetwood for an audience of 6 but most of the time it’s very much the other side of the coin. I don’t do quite as much as I did but I’ve got a regular Tuesday paid gig that I look forward to.
  8. The trucks were held up for three hours and the drivers fined for a non-motoring offence that nobody’s quite figured yet. So to make up time the riggers went to work overhead while the backline and stage stuff was set up out of the way and rolled in.
  9. Just got this from Mark Knopfler’s gig at Gdansk yesterday. They’re touring with five trucks, two busses and a private jet for the band.
  10. A half used roll of Prestoband that I used to wrap round my fingers to play the DB. From 1966. And some photos.
  11. So does mine. And I do care. I have a 14 year old Wizzy that shows no such degradation. Alex?!!
  12. I haven’t used a OneTen in a big setting but, from my experience with a Crazy 8, I have no doubt that it’ll cope. It’s just too dark with a Lifeline but a couple of days ago I put an old Underwood on. Played through the OneTen it sounded very good indeed. I’ll give it a gig before long.
  13. I use this, it’s only a 10 but the amp sits on the top. Virtually eliminates feedback from DB.
  14. Aristophanes would have something to say about that.
  15. I’m off to a double bass gig early Sat and might need a bit of extra firepower. So I’m taking two 10” cabs under a Magellan 800. But one is 4 ohm and the other 8. Amp will be OK because it has a 2.6 ohm outlet. Which cab is likely to be the louder? In other words will one of them overwhelm the other? Comments much appreciated .
  16. And poet. But no singer.
  17. Bob Dylan. Runs for cover
  18. Somebody’s picked up a great buy there.
  19. I’ve got a banjo that Oliver Cromwell used to play down the pub on a Saturday night. Right laugh ‘e were! sorry Clarky, had to do it.
  20. For sale, nearly new Krivo Magnetic Pickup for DB. One of the very best mags, one gig only and complete with spare double lock fixing tape ( Velcro on steroids) and adjuster key. Exactly as it came. Price includes postage.
  21. Any cab builders remember the ARU, Acoustic Resistance Unit? Not sure what it did but the cab designs had it fixed in the back panel, approx 10”x10”. It was meant to allow a smaller cab but my 2x12” was huge! It took up all the load area of a Mini van on its back. That huge.
  22. Yes, an 8” combo at 17lbs and 10” at 18lbs.
  23. Only went to one, Cornbury, because it was four miles down the road. Loved it. Booker T followed by the Zombies. Didn’t like the look of the people in the VIP enclosure tho.
