Well, following on from this, ive setup a spreadsheet that details EVERYTHING i have to spend as day to day - strings, accessories, insurance, publicity, rehearsal, and then ive got gig spend - food, drinks (both alco and non alco), distance from home to studio to pub back to studio and back home - at 45p per mile as per hmrc business rates. Then a total received minus total spent and a +/- and so far (since April 2012) - ive made a profit of £4.34. I cant do it since we started (2006) cos ive not got records.

Its a covers band - there are no leaders really. We book gigs together, and split all the dough equally - i provide insurance and publicity
-
So, one thing ive learnt is to keep a note and receipt for everything. Now - do i just do this for the earnings I receive, or totally for the band; IE - Gig at X pub = band gets paid £200. Out of that £200, we all get £40 (£200/5) Do i just record MY expenses, and leave it to the rest of the band to do their own?
-
All seems to echo what i pretty much thought..keep it coming though!

My thoughts exactly! Ive considered doing things like keeping Petrol receipts, and receipts for strings, straps, picks etc just to prove that its for expenses and not additional income. I play maybe once/twice a month for money

Hello, A lot of venues we are playing at the minute are asking for us to sign receipts for tax purposes. This hasnt happened to us before. What are the implications of not declaring the £50 odd quid a night I make from gigging to the tax man? Do I/We Need to? The £50 odd quid barely covers costs, let alone provides an additional income. Thoughts please!

For Sale; Trace Elliot AH 150 SMC Bass Head - Carpet covered monster - have had this for about 3 years now and its been a faithful servant to me and never let me down. Its sat on top of my 1153 matching carpet covered cab - again, good condition, slight bit of rusting on the plate at the back but nothing too serious, its not corroding and the inputs work fine - speaker still sounds great. Pics available to anyone that wants em. No trades - collection/delivery around Leicestershire only - £300.

Hi - selling on behalf of a friend, so no trades; Hartke HA3500 Bass amp head - Offers welcomed around £200 Bought brand new about 12 years ago, so this has been gigged a LOT. Currently being "used" as a spare. The power amp has been fixed previously but it's fully working. These amp heads were prone to developing broken solder joints due to the robotic soldering in the korean factory. It has a bi-polar power stage so it gets quite hot which is why you should always check that the fans work on these amps. Mine has been fixed for a while now and its all working as it should be. It has a few scratches and rack rash to the chassis but the front panel is in good condition. All led's, sliders and knobs are present and working. Comes with rack ears but at the moment it has all the trim/corners/handles etc fitted. Ive noticed one of the rubber feet has gone missing but if you plan to mount it in a 2U rackcase this wont be an issue. A cheap and cheerful but very powerful amp. Its a good first amp for gigging with and I doubt there are many venues where it wouldnt be loud enough. Trace Elliot 1153 15" 400 watts RMS 8ohm Bass Cab (Unbadged) - Offers around £250 Says it all really. Carpet covered 15" bass cab made by Trace Elliot. The original 200w speaker blew a couple of years ago, so it was replaced with a 400w celestion FTR driver. Cab is in fantastic condition, and comes with a vinyl waterproof cover. Trace 1048h 4x10" 300 watts RMS 8ohm Bass Cab (Unbadged) - Offers of around £300 Again - says it all. Carpet covered cab - all the original speakers, cab is again in cracking condition and it comes with a vinyl waterproof cover. Whole rig price is around £700 - and collection only on the items from Coalville, Leicestershire. Hi All, Im having a bit of a clear out and one of the things to go is my old Hondo P-Bass. Its in bits at the minute, and comprises of; Precision Bass Body (very recently sprayed a nice sea-foam green) Original Pickups Original Bridge (not in good condition) Original Black/White/Black Pickguard Maple neck (with jazz inlays on every fret but the 12th - there is some wear on the 12th fret) - Neck is straight and playable Schaller Tuners and Ferrules Yours for £50 (not bad considering i was offered £40 for a similar set of tuners not long ago) If you would like postage, then im happy to post - ill just need to get a quote for it. Again, trades considered - anything cheap bass wise (im into projects), or pedals - just let me know.

Not really relevant, but there is a japanese company on Ebay that sell them (i think i bought mine for about £8) - and there was only a picture of the inlays, and no measurements - when i got them, i found that the inlays wouldnt fit after the 12th fret. Anyway - I would suppose it would vary by manufacturer, but these japanese ones are ok on the maple board that i have (which are more difficult to clean IMO) and i would assume that they are made to withstand the constant cleaning that necks and fingerboards get. Reading that back, it actually doesnt answer your question, but oh well. Its an insight at least!
