1.
I can`t imagine how a 1000 watt version of this amp could be used, in order to get the full 1000 watts - maybe to blow out the windows of The O2?
Sorry I'm a little deaf?! Can you say that again A LITTLE BIT LOUDER? I've just got back from rehearsal and me tinitus is givin me right jip... I like the character of the amp with not a huge amount of gain so I went for the 1000W so I could just have more of what I wanted and then turn up the gain for fun lol LOADS of clean head room though
 2. I'm running the 1000W OBT through my Ashdown Neo 810 and it's the nuts. I searched for about a year in search of the right sound for 'me'. I tried countless heads and to be fair without spending a couple of grand you can't beat the OBT. I ended up with the 1000W as I like to have more clean headroom at the low end, the 500W was still nice but I just wanted to make sure I could have it. The two 12AX7s respond nicely and the tone doesn't seem to be lost in the power stage. You can create a real nice warm yet gutsy tone when you wind up the volume and keep the gain down and this seems to be where the character comes in. What I like about it is that the EQ cuts are REAL cuts not just +/-15db and the boosts are subtle and don't artificially enhance a nice bass tone which is tempting when you have it. If you like to shape your tone with your fingers then buy this amp as it responds well and it's about as simple as you can get... VOL/TRE/MID/BAS/GAIN ... what more do you need?? I have to agree though it doesn't work amazingly with actives, although it doesn't seem to cope badly either. This amp reacts great for passive basses and is where it really shines. Then again I don't really like active tones, I'd rather hear all the natural ones from a passive rather than slightly modelled ones and feel what I'm playing more but thats just me. Certainly consider paying the extra depending on your requirements, I'm glad I did.
 3.
Anyone else think that it might never go away? I LOVE Sandbergs and the two I've owned have been two of the nicest basses I've ever played but GAS took me against my will and one went for a Ray a few months back. Now the other's potentially in the firing line, it's a full custom and I'll never find another like it if it goes, but the temptation to put it up for trade for a HH Ray, Bongo or fretless Lightwave fiver is getting to me. I know it's a bad idea but my damned GAS keeps telling me that the Sandberg isn't really usable as a backup because the output is so much less and I've never needed a backup bass anyway so I'm better off getting another MM or something totally different that can serve a different purpose. I'm glad I don't have amp GAS too or I would probably end up insane. I do however have crazy tuner GAS which is driving me mad.
GAS = BASSES = CASTRATION = DIVORSE = NO MONEY = ANTIGAS Proof of the never ending cycle of bass players lives... It is written and so it shall be... Although... ANTIGAS = MONEY = GIRLFRIEND = NO MONEY ... . . .. Does that mean we only ever have one true GAS period or is this proof that in order to fullfill the prophecy true GASeous bassists can only marry once??

 7. Depending on how much cash you have, you could always kill a few hundred from your pot and get yourself a project until you find something that floats ya boat. I've always found that having something with an unknown sound to work on always keeps me busy. Get yourself a cheepy PJ body get yourself some ebay bargain necks, crazy how some go for sod all. Amazing how some necks and bodies work and some dont at all even if they are matched. You can pick up some oddball pickups and see what happens. Just an idea though, I love doing that sort of thing and sometimes you can get some awesome sounds and tones coming out that can be inspirational that you'd be hard pushed to find off the shelf - just takes a little bit of time and effort but would certainly keep you ocupied. If not then def keep your pennies, you'll see something soon enough.
