1. short update, finally received my "green mile" before christmas after around 7 weeks. today I had the chance to fiddle a bit with it and must say it is one the few overdrives I really like - for guitar. well, that's what I bought it for, so it'll be a keeper. will try it with bass the days...
2.
Like Ant says, you can do lots of patch swapping without needing external switches and I had no more space to fit extras. The 2-switch RC unit is the same size as the Jamman so it had to be one or the other... After a quick play the Jamman won on features!
cool, thanks for the infos shep and ant
3.
Correct! Stereo looper and sampler. A new addition that I'm still 'playing with' rather than actively using...
why this and not the rc-30 or the boomerang, shep? I'm still on the hunt for a cheap rc-30, but have no hurry yet.
4.
Whats the blue pedal with four sw's ?
digitech jamman stereo?
5.
This isn't correct. Only Paul Hamer left, Jol Dantzig & Frank Untermyer both remained with Hamer (Dantzig left for a brief period between 1993-97). Jol Dantzig was ousted by Fender in 2010. Frank Untermyer became something pretty high up in Kamen but retained links to Hamer until the end.
frank was and probably still is the head of the hamer/ovation/guild factory in new hartford.
6. it is true it is a shame, but also if the sales numbers just go down under a justifiable level you better draw a line. I don't know any circumstances, but when I was in the new hartford factory in oct 2011 they already didn't make a reasonable number of hamer instruments. but I could see 2 of rick nielsen custom hamers being there for repair. the guys there are alle very nice and great craftsmen.
7. really sorry for the hamer guys. they have an interesting brand but since I am a guild fan and they reside in one and the same building in new hartford and built the "guild gsr" sets before, too, this will probably mean that guild is coming back into the electric market with more than a few special runs. and I am happy about this, since the good hamer craftsmen probably won't lose their jobs.
8.
Well, wasn't it Keith Richards and a session guy, Willie Weeks, who played bass on a lot of tracks? So even the Stones didn't think he was that good.
he even wrote in his book, that bill was in the band because he had a bassamp.
9.
I'm also amazed at some of the negative comments about Adam Clayton on here, from apparently fellow bass players. he's very melodic, and more than competent bass player always produces the perfect bass line to some fantastic, and classic songs can be in the front of the mix when needed, like Vertigo, or more in the back, whatever suits has managed to change to suit the era and sound of the time, over 5 decades recorded a more varied back catalogue than almost any other band i can think of over a similar period always looks uber cool dates supermodels earns gazillions someone compared him to stanley clarke on this thread? really? i bet stanley sometimes wishes he had Adam's life, I bet Adam never wishes he had Stanley's!! Too many bass snobs i think. I'd rather listen to Adam play bass in his home studio than Stanley bore me to death any day of the week. I'm not a big U2 fan by the way, just feel he's being unfairly criticised. its all subjective though isnt it, oh, and following some other comments, of course U2 are a supergroup. I think threads like this always turn into a 'who i don't like' thread. I'll save my own thoughts on that one for the appropriate thread. To comment on the thread, albeit rather boringly, there arent many supergroups to begin with are there (By my definition anyway), and i can't think of any with a poor bass player, i think they're all great, and very different, and all doing what we probably all want to do. I agree with previous coldplay comments though, although they arent a supergroup, but fair play to the guy, he's got his dream job, and he hasnt been found out yet, good luck to him.
a fat +1 I only wonder nobody mentioned the stones yet. ok, before darryl. well, bill is not really bad, and quite a few songs need this "wrong" vibe.....but seriously....
10. hao rust ride. and what a coincidence, there even is one available....
11. nope, but got myself some in advance: I'm a happy camper!
12. I love my active and passive basses. there is no better, just different. and it's all in your taste and your goals.
13.
What kind of trade value are you looking at mate?
around £100 is my guess. mate.
14. welcome, and you could have done worse than going to germany.
15. great follow up. well done once again, shep!
16. short update: my pre hiwatt SC200 is now recapped, checked and back to 100%. played it yesterday on the rehearsal and still am in soundheaven. there are rarely amps with a tone that produce goose bumps, but mine does. definately check one out if you have a chance, or try a hiwatt.
17. congrats, skol! enjoy your soon new bass! and thanks to all who took the time to comment on my song! cheers!
