1. licks? I can't even remember what I played yesterday. but honestly usually I try to improvise but mostly fail trying to do something "new" since everything had been played somewhen somewhere before. but as long as I try to let the music flow and try not to think about it even simple licks can touch the people. it is not just about vocabulary, you don't even need a big one, but sensitivity, groove and expression. the licks don't help if you don't know how to give notes air to breathe.
2. my superjazz couple: seibass jazz 5 and shuker/esp frankenjazz.
3. my 1965 guild starfire is almost exactly one year older than me and to be honest there is no other bass from '66 that I'm really interested to own, except some guitars but also they are out my price range atm.
4.
... My personal tribute to Leo Fender. I build this one myself, 36/32 inch scale, Delano pickups and Glockenklang 2 band preamp.
now this is a nice one. got any soundfiles?
5. hmm, anyone willing to offer a bed to a german mate during this event (approx. 2 nights)?
6.
Just out of interest, while many people are happy to see a singer perform with all of the music on track, how many would be satisfied to see a band perform with all of the vocals on track?
well, these guys do it - kind of. and the crowd really likes it. they use a dj who shoots the extracted vocals and the drummer use a klick.
7. start trying from there. I have the para di and really like it.
8. put up the last rehearsal of my elevator music band.
9. congrats to all participants and to skol. great job!
10. but the alexbass is only a single channel. I'd like to compare it to my GP lightstone twister though.

14. always my tube preamp pedal with di as long as the backline is crap here, too.
15. exhausting but satisfying. I had an intense arrangement rehearsal with the keyboardplayer of my new band: around 7hrs. it was great. music is love!
16. atm I'm absolutely happy with my gear. I just had a bassplayers meeting yesterday and could check a lot other custom stuff even much more expensive than my stuff. but I could't find anything that I liked better than what I play now.
17.
I fit them as a matter of course on just about all my keeper basses. Great piece of kit.
+1
18.
i learned it with this video from Adam Nitti. http://www.youtube.c...8;v=hDzRqeS0ruQ
ok, then I'm using the floating anchor technique most of the time.
19. my new old studio/rehearsal rig:
20. I'm absolutey happy with the tones I'm able to deliver. I found amps much less important for this than having the bass/string combination you absolutely love. and even no matter what bass I play, I still sound like me. I believe the secret really hides in yourself and how you form your tone. the more you like what and how you play, the more you will like your tone. and if you have a tone you want to achieve, try different playing techniques first. gear only helps to make you loud.
21. I used a Tecamp Puma 350 1x12" combo on sessions for 2 years and it could keep up with loud drummers and sounded ok. they are reasonably priced used. but if you can afford something better, go with i.e. gk streamliner and a very good cab instead. that's the way I do it.
