hello my fellow low enders, I am in need of some advice my friends you see I need to hear from someone who has had the chance to play around on the Lightwave SL4 a bass with no pick ups ! but some rather clever lasers on board, Let me begin by saying I am no super slick slapper or even a established band member but, I have been playing now for a while. My first bass was a fender squire P bass great starter bass and one I had promised myself to stick with till I had mastered the beast so to speak, but then along came a guitar player who had a mate who had a bass he did not want, and well to cut along story short Its now mine no problem you might say I now own two basses the new addition being a Peavy Bxp Zodiac am Im blown away by the new sound not harsh and twangy like the P but mellow and woody, so apart from being slightly miffed because the peavy is a lot cheaper than the fender right? the quality of finish is not as good by the tones better. So Im thinking Its time to buy what Id like to think of as a serious professional bass. Along I go to the local music shop and pik up an American jazz plug it in and urgh its horrible with what seems to be a very narrow variation of tones Ive been brought up on jazz because thats what my mentor plays dont get me wrong I love queen too but Ive stuck with jazz thinking that if you can play it you can play anything so with that in mind a bass with the ability to give a vast array of tone for under £1000 might just be the ticket what do you think my friends?

You can loop or detune Mp3s, AIFF or whatever.[/quote] Ive been asking around the local guitar group and it seem that Tascam do another bit of kit called the GTR-1 This model will play back mp3 at the slower speeds and let you practice with it as a stand alone but has one advantage in that it has a pair of mics that knock out studio quality recordings. this will let me record the group sessions and take it home to practice / jam the unit is priced at just under £200

Each to their own.[/quote] So what are we talking about here is their a gap in the market for a hard case thats more solid in construction and therefor thinner than your standard hard case and fits your base like a glove but with the addition of a shoulder slind to allow you to sling it over your shoulder ! I musrt admit having recently swapped from lead to bass that my acoustic solid case is a pain on account of only being able to carry it via the handle and my P base is sticking out the top of my old gig bag but is so much easier to move around slim but solid with a sling sorted

Im thinking of buying a Tascam CD-BT2 the kit Im have at present is a line 6 JM$ looper, Good for lead guitar plenty of voices and a great looper but the playback controls are simply to basic with no function to go back a short jump and sound quality is an issue If you have one Id Like to hear how your getting on with it thanks in advance Johnny

Thank you for your greets I look forward to chatting with you soon Can anyone recommend an application or bit of kit tha would enable me to record a tune from YouTube or a record and play it back with a bit more control than I'm getting from the u tube site something that would roll back the last few notes accurately as I seem to do this a lot over and over when trying to tab a tune

A hello to everyone a note to introduce myself as a newbie bass player who up untill recently played lead, when I say played lead I mean got home from work waited till the wife and kids had all gone off to be plugged in the head phones and was about as happy as you can get playing on your tod. now it just so happens that Im partially deaf and this means Ive lost all the high frequency sounds like mobile phone rings car alarms bird song (the wife with a strop on) and just about every note above the 8th fret on the top e string So why bother I hear you ask well its bloddy hard work I can tell you and forgive me but up untill a couple of weeks ago I always considered changing to bass as giving in and taking the easy option. much humble pie to be gulped down now since having owned one I wish id swapped years ago I can hear the whole way up the neck. I still struggle to learn songs by ear and considered asking if their was any software that could tab a audio file even if it put notes on the wrong string I could move it around once I had the correct notes (suggestions please) So now that Ive arrived Ive decided to get out their and find some other bass players in and around Letchworth in Hertfordshire with a plan to one day soon unleash myself on the ears of the general public. bricking it ? to bloddy right but Ive not had such a grin on me chops since I got my first acoustic twenty odd years ago John
