Great idea. If you get overwhelmed with requests I'm sure my band would help out. We've not played Paranoid or anything else by Black Sabbath for about 5 years, so that must count as some kind of track record. We're also known for not playing anything by Yes, Pink Floyd or Emerson Lake and Palmer, on the grounds that life really is too short.
What makes you say that mate?
I guess he's thinking that most people don't voluntarily set themselves up to be mauled in public. You deserve credit for that and also for taking the criticism in such a positive spirit. Leaving aside all the costume and setting stuff, in the last picture you all look natural and relaxed, like you're comfortable with what you're being asked to do. In the first picture you don't. That is the most difficult thing to do and it's down to the photographer to create a setting in which you can deliver that and they can capture it. That would be thing to work on the next time.
Even worse it was actually recorded twice, first on one of Coverdale's pre-WS solo albums and then later on the proper WS Ready An Willing album. The arrangements are pretty similar though. If I get chance to have a jam to it later when I get home I will.
I assumed you meant "When a blindman cries" from Deep Purple days, in which case we used to play it. But it's a different song. What is it with DP derivatives and cliched metaphors on sight loss?

You can get a vibrator that can be controlled by an iPod, so linking one to a bass should be technically possible.
All Red on a 4 string = 5-curious
That explains why, after I put Roto Jazz Flats on my P, I felt compelled to buy the next Rebop 5 I saw on eBay.

I was about to ask the same question, having spent some time on Sunday restringing and swapping string sets between basses. The exact question I intended to ask was "What the hell are those stupid bloody silks for, all they do is get in the way, unravel and look a mess?" <rant>Rotosound silks, particularly, seem designed to discourage you from moving a set from one bass to another. As you pull the string back out through the bridge, the silks become a ragged ball of fluff. Then I spent a while hacking at a D'Addario Chrome Low B with a Stanley knife, as the ball end silk wouldn't fit through a standard Fender 5-string bridge. And the colours are hideous. bright red (Roto), bright blue (LaBella), who on earth thought those were rock'n'roll?</rant>

There's a steady stream of Epi TBirds on eBay, actually taking shipping into account £199 isn't a bad price if it's in good nick, especially if you could get a gig bag that fits thrown in. It won't sound exactly like a Gibson, due to the wood and bolt-on neck, but it looks the part and the finish will probably be better. Never had a modern Tokai, but what I've heard suggests they're not what they were in the 80s. I'd go with the Epi. There was an Alpine White Epi on eBay recently that I was lusting after, but it went for £335 and I wasn't lusting that much.

Bought a Mackie monitor and bag from Iain. Must have looked dodgy, doing the deal in a car park, but he looks after his gear and is a nice guy to chat to. Thanks, Iain, great piece of kit, it was worth the wait :-)

I've been able to work out what the punters will like. On Valentines Night we introduced "Sunshine of Your Love" as a romantic love song. Fooled them for about 5 seconds. We do a fair bit of GreenRazorPatrol which I can't stand, but I think it pleases the singer's mother. On the other hand, we're working on QotSA's "No One Knows" and a Peter Greenish jam at the last practice ended up in "Green Manalishi", so I'll have my revenge.

It's not gone, just moved. There's still .gp3 tabs on there, and a lot of .gp4. http://www.gprotab.net/index.php Shhhh!! Don't tell the tab police.

I've got a standard 89/90 MIJ Precision I bought on a whim on eBay for £250. I wasn't even looking for a P, I thought they were too boring. It was an instant hit with the band and now they moan if I play anything else. From the tarnish around the pole pieces the pickups are original and the only element of my playing that ever gets compliments is the sound of the P, so whatever they are, they're ok. When I bought it I didn't know about the different levels of the MIJ range, so it wasn't as much of a bargain as I thought, but now I look at the reissues and wonder what I'd be getting, apart from cosmetics, for quite a bit more money.

If it was just down to what I need, I could manage with EAD and 12 frets.

Just done a deal with Wayne on the infamous kettle leads and he even threw in a freebie. What a guy. AAAA++++ as they say on eBay.

The Guild basses get very mixed opinions, another example of a top flight guitar maker that can't quite get basses right. A good place to look or ask if you're seriously thinking of buying one would be the Outpost, for example ..... Has anyone ever put single coils in a Thunderbird?

Which Epi TBird is it? If it's the black Gothic version, the body is mahogany, which would contribute a lot to the unfocussed sound. The others are Alder. -
