1.
The American Std. will come very close, having the same width at the nut, but I think the seventies neck is just a tad thicker (from fretboard to back), not much, just a little bit. The closest resemblance I can remember is the neck allparts makes. You have to keep in mind that the neck of the AmStd is finished in a satin finish, silky soft, while the vintage neck is finished in rockhard thick glossy polyester.
Satin is IMO "faster" and easier to play than gloss but doesn't look as nice. The american standard will also have "rolled edges" which again, IMO is nicer. If you want to go even thinner than an american standard then you could go for an american special (my favourite bass neck). I think all modern Fenders are far nicer to play on than vintage ones, which is what they are going for. Try some out at a store and you'll see what I mean . I don't know how similar this: http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/search.php/?partno=0132010305 is to an actual 70's neck but it has a "C" shape instead of a modern "C" shape. Could it be the same? I don't know. Gloss finish too. The 70's series are made in Japan. Looks very unique too, I like it.
2. Good price. These are kind of like stingrays IMO. It's the only Ibanez which they currently make which I really like. Good luck!

Dr Lo-Riders

When I finally get a bass I'm happy with I plan to get some of these. I have used hi's for a while now but I think lo's will give me what I'm after. In regards to quality, you can not go wrong with DR strings.
4. I've persuaded the seller to post here on my expense if I win the auction. He won't pull it though. Took a few emails. But it's pretty much the spec I want which is the first time I've seen one on ebay. I was speaking to a dealer about getting one made to these specs but this should hopefully save me half the price. I don't want to disclose any details at this point but fingers crossed! Regarding the topic itself. Often it can be VERY hard to get exactly what you're after without looking overseas. For example 90% of the stuff over on talkbass is US only, which sucks and they won't budge. I'm sure some people here at least have been in this situation before though.
5. Don't know if the video was just added or if I missed it, but that's a real nice tone dude! Great work!
6.
Well the fund is now into 3 figures. Early days and on a checkout monkeys wage to!
Good stuff. Don't settle for any less than what you want. Get anything less and you'll regret it a year later. I also want to nominate ashevans09 for the best forum signature of all time!
7. I'd totally go for this if it had black b&b. Good price, very, very decent refin and a cool bridge! Good luck .
8.
In your humble opinion.
Well to be fair, he wrote it and it's obviously not a fact so it goes without saying.
9. I have to admit, the Stingray I once had was possibly the best quality bass I've played. It's certainly up there anyway. Shame I just couldn't get along with it.
10. For some reason this is the combo I think of when I think of a Bongo. Looks ace though! I wouldn't go for anything at all like that finish usually, but Bongos are "funky"!
11. What bass is it? Jazz?
12. I'm not that keen on parcel forwarding company's, they're overpriced and a little shady from what I've heard. Do you have any experience with bonvu?
13. USA.
14. Used G&L on ebay.
15. When you find the bass you've been looking for. It pops up online... it's quite rare, a good price and you don't see them too often. Then you find out they won't ship to your address! Arrgh!
16. I used to hate the look of bongos, I kind of dig them now. I'd never own one but I no longer dismiss them like I did a year ago. I agree though, they do look like a beautiful work of art and also based on previous MM basses I have no doubt the quality is immense. I keep hearing how great the electronics are too, I'd love to see one in person.
17. Nice score, congrats! Plonk a mint green guard on there.

19. These are seriously cool basses. Good luck!
20. Thanks for the pic Walloper.
21. Ice blue metallic, Pelham blue or Burgundy mist metallic? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I recommended one of your choices, sorry!
22.
I'd have thought the value of the LE would be up there with something like a 30th anniversary Ray. Depending on the day anywhere between about £1000 at the low end but maybe as high as £1300 if an MM collector takes a shine to it. I've had a standard Sterling in the past. playability (neck wise) just as fast as a Jazz. Sound wise - much closer to a Ray......i.e. nothing like a Jazz. Harder edged and less versatile sound palate wise than a Jazz but sits in a mix well and a great sound if you like it. Personally I do but I wouldn't have one as my only bass. Just my 2p
Great post, I also agree on the price. Only as an estimate though. I did have a Stingray as my only bass once but I wish I had got an l2000 instead for a wider variety of tones.
23. I think they share the same neck profile, but they won't sound the same being different electronics. I've seen standard Sterlings go for £650-800, his being a special I would have no idea. Sorry I wasn't too much help! Others here are experts though, you can also ask on the EB forums or even TB.
24. That looks awesome! Good luck!
