Hartke LH 500 & Ampeg SVT 410, will I blow it...
Graham replied to Biaeothanata-Bassist's topic in Amps and Cabs
Fair enough chap, looks like I'm wrong :-) However, I still wouldn't do it as the total cab impedance - 8 ohm, wont change if you run it in stereo, so you'll still only get the same power drawn from the head. -

I wouldn't do that, the impedance will be for the total cab, and I doubt the two connectors do what you think they will, more likely one's an input and the other a link so you can daisy chain the cab with another -
Isn't this basically what you want: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/236619-peavey-t40-1980-white-with-original-hard-case/page__pid__2447838#entry2447838

Interesting - the singer broke both his wrists the afternoon before the gig, so I ended up driving with the trailer full of PA to the venue that he usually takes. I've only driven with a trailer once before and that was about 10 years ago; trying to reverse it up a narrow driveway at about 1am back into the garage where it lives was interesting to say the least, but I was pretty proud of my efforts, I've got thw next 6-8 weeks to get even better at it. I'm amazed he did the gig, he was on Cocodomal, and used a mic stand, but was in a fair bit of pain by the drive home. Overall, considering the circumstances, the gig itself went pretty well, had a dep drummer too, who's played with us a couple of times. She's good, but obviously hasn't quite got all the nuances our regular player has, so not quite at full strength.

Well, after last night I'm sold - everything sounded the same, just quiter and no ringing in my ears last night/today. Money well spent.

I think GAK keep a decent amount of stock in the warehouse and bring it out as needed, so may be worth an email/call to them if you want one fresh out the box.

Free booze and slutty bridesmaids? if I was 1. local and 2. single, I'd play that

The new Down EP http://www.teamrock.com/news/2014-05-06/exclusive-down-iv-part-2-ep So far, seems to be on a par with the Purple EP, Down seem like they've hit a bit of a plateau and can't recreate the magic of the first two records.

Received my ACS Pro-17s on Wednesday, first gig with them tonight, will report back tomorrow how it goes

I wouldn't be worried about it personally - it's not going to stay pristine anyway; however if it's bothering you, send it back. I'd definitely take them money though (which would invariably end up spent on something else at their store......)

My only gripe with my TU2 is that it can take just a little too long to lock onto the note when I first switch it on; we're talking by maybe 3-4 seconds here, so may sound churlish, but when I really only have a few seconds between songs to adjust my tuning if I think it's slipped, or to go back up to standard from drop-D, it sometimes does cause me a problem. Other than that, no issues with it at all and I've had it 7 years and used it at every gig in that period. Any TU3 users have any opinion on how quickly they find the note when you switch it on? I'm assuming it's a processing speed issue, so the newer one should pick up the note quicker.
Hate to say it but you'll probably never trust this amp ever again. I'd get a refund on it and buy something else.
Unfortunately this :-( If you're happy with the sound, maybe ask for a replacement if they refuse a refund? Every company has the occasional duff unit and you may be unlucky to have received one that shouldn't have passed test.

Weren't Matamp talking about doing something class D?

You guys really aren't helping my MB Fusion GAS So, I can basically have the same sound as my Streamliner, but with more clarity and more control over the mids? I think I'm going to have to try one of these out.

If I had to pick one, I'd go for the 2014 Precision but the Ric 4003 and Gibson RD would be high on my list too.

This thread has got me looking at videos of the GK MB Fusion as an alternative to my STM900. Foolish, very foolish...........

Clip 1 My favourites were the ESP, Yammaha BB, American std Precision and '73 Precision. Also liked the Ric and Ibanez Clip 2 My favourites were the Ric 4003, American std Precision and Gibson EB13 Clip 3 Favourites were the Gibson Les Paul, '73 Precision, Gibson Ripper and Krist Novocelic RD Clip 4 Favourites were Burns Hank Marvin, Squier '51 Precision, Gibson Krist Novocelic RD, Gibson Ripper, '73 Precision and Ric 4003 I think the main thing I took from those videos is how similar most of the basses sounded to each other. Also, the Fender Starcaster and Jaguar did nothing for me in any of the clips. Thanks for making those Johan, must've taken a while.

Chapman Guitars ML-B, Case anyone's interested ;)
Graham replied to SolomonHelsing's topic in Bass Guitars
Hmmmm, the coil tap mode sounded the best by far, on the whole sounded rather indistinct; considering it's seems to be mostly aimed at metal/heavy players it doesn't sound (in this video) nearly clear enough. I like the aesthetics of it, I like the wood combinations, but I suspect if I were to plan on buying one I'd need to budget a hundred to two hundred quid more for replacement pickups, and possibly a different wiring harness too - volume/volume/blend seems too complicated to me. -
I used to have a K5 before moving back to 4s, great bass.

I'm a big fan of his lyrics - Love, Ire And Song lived in my CD player for weeks after I first got it, every song really spoke to me, felt like he was singing about me. England Keep My Bones has some crackers too, I particularly like I Still Believe, Rivers, One Foot Before The Other and If Ever I Stray.

That reminds me quite a bit of my old Mayones Be4, very similar vibe. Could be good depending on price and what the puckups are like, seems odd they didn't plug it in though :-s The maple neck seems like a bit of a missed opportunity, but I guess they have to get costs down somewhere. -
I love Frank, only seen him once, acoustically, so no Sleeping Souls sadly. I really like the fretless bass on Peggy Sang The Blues, really suits the song, but surprisingly melodic.

Gig promoters and the "pound per head" policy

Got to be illegal? Reneging on a pre-agreed payment for services rendered is surely breach of contract? -

Ace, I'll have to dig out my Linear Sphere album and give it a spin tonight.
