Royal Albert hall; great if you don't like metal.
The Opeth 20th anniversary gig there was amazing :-)
Congrats. You have just purchased the best piece of kit on the market IMO.
I'm in the market for molded hearing protection and the ACS Pro-17 looks right for me - loud 4-piece rock and pop covers band, though not as loud as my old five piece death metal band. The above comments are encouraging - any other users agree/disagree?

Pretty decent, we had a dep drummer and it was her first gig with this band, but she's the drummer for the guitarist's other band, who I've also depped for, so she wasn't an unknown quantity; plus there is some crossover between the sets which helped. Only downside of that was there were a couple of new songs we wanted to try last night that I think would have gone down really well (Pharrell's Happy and Mountains by Biffy) but she didn't know them which was a shame. Maybe next time, as the singer was suitably impressed with her that she'll probably be our first call dep now. The other issues we had were the singer trying out some new PA speakers and blowing one of them, so had two stacks of three speakers on stage and only one speaker was in-use. Tried some frantic surgery on the speaker in the break, but no joy. The crowd was relatively thin as we're getting on for the end of the month, but was still a pretty good audience considering how dead town was, which kept the bar staff happy. Despite all that, was a pretty enjoyable gig and we had a good number of people dancing in the second set.
Beautiful bass, Ian. Looks like a Koa top. Joe picks out the Koa tops himself when he goes on his regular vacation to Hawaii, apparently. Must have been a one-off for John Giblin with the single pickup in the sweet spot like that. Perfect placement for fretless playing , I expect.
The original Machine Head bassist Adam Duce had a MM style Zon with just a, I assume, volume pot.
There's a Polish Queen site where you can download the 24 track multi's for many Queen tracks. Have a listen to Bohemian Rhapsody where you have a DI, a mic'd Acoustic 301 (presumably through an Acoustic 370) and a mic'd 4x12 (presumably through a 100w Hiwatt). You can solo these in any combination and you'll see exactly what we're saying. The difference between DI and cab is startling. It certainly leads me to raise a single eyebrow (if I could) at Alex's suggestion regarding the BF cab. I wonder if he has evidence of this any more than I can prove that I just don't see that at all. Taking the feed straight off the bass won't have the amp colouration for a start, so I have to respectfully dismiss what he's saying.
I'd assume he meant a post-EQ DI off the amp rather than a DI straight from the bass to the desk. Still, not convinced even Barefaced would be that transparent
Yep, Zoom Q3HD. Some "wobble" to the sound from somewhere, but overall it's a great little unit.
+1 great video and I can feel GAS creeping in, though tbh my Streamliner/Compact isn't a million miles from that sound (or so I'll keep telling myself). What bass and cab were you using?

They make a kit, but it's an odd design as I recall and not the same as just fitting ears.

This thread has reminded me that the pictures I put up in the porn thread are a bit ropey, here's some better ones: [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/20140313_220513_zpsh7ejf8mh.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/20140313_220459_zpsw5ezvm5z.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
I'll see how I feel about the pups after a few gigs. I like 'em so far.... I could just tippex four dots on each. Colour-wise... this is winning:
I love green basses and that's stunning.

I've got an idea for a band (Part II)
Graham replied to phil.mcglassup's topic in General Discussion
I reckon that if you did start a band where the members were rich in years, then people would assume you'd been going years and that they distinctly remember seeing you open for Bauhaus in '87 or something similar. -
IIRC some of these have just 2 volume controls, no tone control. Sorry but I couldn't live with that. Out with the Black & Decker...
That's correct, but I assure you, with this bass you don't need one - by varying the ratio between the two pickups you get a lot of tonal options. If you solo the P pickup and roll the volume down low you can get a Motown style thud and as the pickups are so powerful, you still get a usable output. Or, chuck both puckups on full for a massive, agressive style grind and a lots more between. There's certainly more tone options than on say, the USA Precision I tried before buying the G&L.

I've got a '95 SB2 which I love (3-bolt neck joint with the micro-tilt) It's just got the tone in my head - clear, punchy, mid-range focused that can sound enormous with the volumes up high, but still undeniably a P-bass. I also like the undersized body which reduced the weight and the neck profile, which is somewhere between a P and a J, though closer to a J - if I had enough money I'd order one with a slightly wider neck, but I don't and it's not that far away as it is. Value wise, I paid £700.00 last September for it, though it was a commission sale at a popular bass shop so you may get a better price in a private sale, but this was the only used one I could find.

Given by the apparent popularity of AltFest, I'd say you'd be fine -
Your NX212 can't have a big footprint, can't you just put the Trace ontop of the Genz cab and then the Shuttle ontop of the Trace?

A mate of mine is after a 200 gauge bass string, I suspect he's tuning down to a low F# - anyone know where he can get one?

How does one go about trying out a bass...
Graham replied to Cameronj279's topic in General Discussion
This. I played one at the bass show last year, a fiver with a low F#, and it was astounding. Alas, the basic tone of the instrument left me cold - not a fault of the bass, just not to my taste. Sheldon Dingwall is a top fellow though, we had quite a natter.
+1 I tried a couple at Bass Direct last year, found the change from 4 to 5 strings harder than the change from parallel to fanned frets -
How do you set your volume playing live?
Graham replied to John Cellario's topic in General Discussion
My G&L has no tone control, just volume/volume for the two pickups, so I adjust the volumes to get a tone I like (normally about 80% on the P / 20% on the J) and then input gains on the head for taste and then master volume to a level where I can hear myself clearly -
