A song you have always wanted to play live......
Graham replied to Jazzneck's topic in General Discussion
I'd really like to play some Sabbath too - pretty much anything from the first three albums. Unfortunately this goes contrary to my current project of modernising the set-list before wedding season kicks off. -
Yeah but you have to bang Trudi Styler.
For hours and hours at a time...

I'd love to play Anchor by Cave In, but it'd fall flat on it's face at our gigs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_wzzq_uyXQ This video always gives me Gibson Ripper GAS -
Awesome. This thread (despite being based on a great original post) has veered uncontrollably into a rarefied, mega interesting territory
Yeah, I'm really enjoying it, cheers guys. I love that BC Rich, and it's not often I say that

My old EBS rig: Fafner and Proline 4x10, clear, deep, punchy - just lovely. My current set-up - Genz STM900 into a Barefaced Gen 1 Compact is pretty tasty too now I've got more to grips with how to get the best out of it.

I think you'll be pleased that I think it sounds very little like Cradle Nailed that Dilinger/Meshuggah vibe, I'd certainly come see you if you played locally.
-
It'll be a ceramic driver but paper cone :-)

I did get hold of the Antichrist Imperium demo the other day which is great and I keep meaning to check out Voices which I understand is most of Akercocke without Mendoca. Edit: just realised I've quoted a post from about 7 weeks ago.....

Of those, personally I'd go Hartke, but have you looked in the for sale section on here?

Help me find some soaringly Beautiful British Brass music

Success! Cheers, I think the forum software doesn't like the link if it comes from the app or mobile site. -
have reported it to local police and 'actionfraud' and spoken with ebay (second time with someone helpful who says is passing on to ebay fraud dept...) so... hopefully... info will be released by ebay to police.....then we take it from there steve-bbb ... thats exactly what i always thought ! - but someone said its not *always* the case if no criminal intent on behalf of buyer and seller ??
I'd assume that might exempt the buyer from prosecution for handling stolen goods, but does not move the title of ownership from you to them. -

Only an intro to a short song, but I think it (briefly) fits the bill I should say, NSFW as Frank does swear once http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXJoexZBMcA Edit: I can never get the imbedding to work - any chance of a sticky thread in one of the forums on how to do it? -
Oh aye, I'm sure you're right, I'd just thought before - "there's no way that can be a Precision" when listening to MOR, strange the things we can convince ourselves of.
-
Thanks for that comprehensive reply Dingus :-) Interesting he played Precisions for the first three albums, I'd have guessed Master Of Reality was something else, particularly as I really dislike his tone on that record.
-
Anyone know what basses Geezer used to record each Sabbath album? Was listening to Volume 4 earlier and got thinking about the different tones he seemed to have on each record and which I liked the most (Paranoid) and started wondering what bass he used on each one. He seems to change quite frequently, so I have no idea what he played on which album except it looks like he recorded the first album with a Precision from the sleeve notes.

A Dingwall AB1 5 string, though I'm about £2.5k short........

I think Rex Brown of Pantera/Down gets overshadowed by the guitarists in those bands, but is a remarkably good player in his own right (turned down a jazz scholarship to go on tour with Pantera); as can he heard on Five Minutes Alone by Pantera and Ghost Along The Missisipi by Down. I would also put Caleb Schofield of Cave In and Dave Edwardson of Neurosis in the underrated camp.

My Genz Streamliner is working more or less as intended - has an intermittent fault with the LED unit that is more trouble to fix than it's worth.

Definitely look used, your budget will go a lot further, I'd look at Warwick (not Rockbass), you should be able to get a bolt on model easily with your budget. At the top end, you might be able to get a G&L USA L2500 or Stingray 5 as these seem to go for between £700-800 used, so if you're not too fussed on condition and negotiate a bit you may be in luck. Yamaha are also another brand to look at, a mate of mine picked up a 6 string Yamaha recently that's great for about £400 If super jazzes are more your thing
-
I don't know why, but I keep liking the look of single cuts recently, I've always disliked them in the past.
-
Got a lot of GAS for an all valve amp at the moment, keep looking at Ashdown CTM300s and Orange Thunderverb 200s Also a 6-string fretless after looking up Steve DiGiorgio videos last night. Sometimes I think it's lucky I'm broke.
I should say I'm talking about music festivals rather than record companies. The smaller festivals (and small stages some at larger ones) Are run by by people who are doing other things for the rest of the year, listening to demos is fitted in around other commitments. I'm no expert but having gone through a bag of disks for a friend the wrapping is a pain!
A couple of pals of mine run a smallish metal festival in Leeds, one of them had a submission turn up where they'd not paid the full postage and he had to make up the difference at the Post Office. I'm pretty sure they didn't get booked.....

I used to have a custom Be Exotic (mine had EMG single coils and an Aguilar OBP3), it was a very well made bass, no faults at all on fit and finish, played very nicely, had a jazzish profile neck. It was very modern sounding, worked well in the drop-B metal band I was in then - helpes me cut through the mix. Would also suit modern pop, soul and jazz, wouldn't pick it for Motown or classic rock though. I moved mine on when my tastes became more traditional a couple years back, but would happily have another one if the band I was in warrented it. Look up my old band Echovirus on Spotify or YouTube - I played all of our Invictus album with it.

I was doing this the other day as it happens, as I needed to update my Musicguard insurance, as most of what was listed on the policy had been sold.
-
I rather like the idea of using those as pre-amps and running one into each side of a stereo power-amp for a split clean(ish) / dirty tone.
