I don't like Rotosounds - sound dead and feel very abrasive on my fingers. DR Nickel Lo-Riders are my favourite, but I think I'll have to switch to Ernie Ball next time I re-string to keep the cost down.

Does Fender's poor quality control make them good for metal? At leas they're not as expensive as a Fodera etc
But even the Thunderbuckers aren't cheap (and they are least pricey of the currently available T-Bird replacement pickups). And by the time you've had the extra routing and wiring done to your MiJ Fender P you'll probably spent as much again as the bass cost you in the first place.
No, but then again they're only pickups I've come across that I like as much as G&L MFDs, so I guess you get what you pay for

I played a Mike Lull PT4 and JT4 at Bass Direct a couple of months ago and they were just lovely, particularly the mahogony bodied PT4, Mr Lull's T-Bird pickups are stunning

I've spoken to the courier we use at work and they've sorted me out a good price via TNT, if I didn't have access to this though I'd be seriously considering saying collection/meet only for any bass over £500.00 in future.
How much insurance do you need?
About £1400 to cover my and the buyer's losses if it all goes belly-up

Any good ones that don't cost a fortune? I'm trying to get a price for shipping a bass within the UK (Sussex to Edinburgh) and all the couriers I've spoken to are either expensive or don't offer enough insurance: DHL - expensive (about £85) UPS - not as expensive as DHL, but still high (about £60) and a nightmare on the phone Fedex - don't deal with the general public City Link - only insure up to £100 for damage and £1000 for loss Parcelforce - not spoken to them, but I believe don't insure musical instruments My Hermes - don't ship musical instrument Any other suggestions?
I thought this sounded really nice through that MB 1x12. Had a quick play and it was fun. A lot less impressed when I heard it through a 'competitive' speaker brand (I won't name which or the flame-crew will be out very quickly, lol). Could be that it needs 'fine tuning' to match different cab setups though.
Does it rhyme with "air-laced"?
Kirk is an awesome guitarist, but he shouldn't really imho
Or at the very least have his wah pedal removed from him and told to start thinking about notes rather than just making a lot of wah noise.

Despite the lack of bass and sh*te drum sound (guitar tone isn't up to much either) Justice is my favourite of theirs these days. I don't have the first record, or Load/Reload but I do pefer the thrash era. Death Magnetic was okay, but not stunning - made worse by the overdriven snare drum and horrible brick wall limiter on the mastering.

Make sure you get some photos up when you've done the deal
I will trade the ray for this Streamee. Its really hard to get instruments sold in sweden right now. People dumping prices. So to get most of it its better to trade.
Ah, fair play :-)
-
If you're not loving the 'Ray, why not move it on and use the cash to pick up a second-hand SS1 or similar?

This thread came up the other day in relation to the Streamliner EQ - might be of some help http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/genz-streamliner-600-900-tone-control-primer-813663/

I'm not, but you're probably looking at betwen £30 and £60 depending on how much work needs doing - though as it's new I'd have thought it'll be at the lower end of that (plus strings if you want to change them). Best thing to do is give them a call or take the bass in and they should be able to give you a ballpark price.

I'm reliably informed by one of your fellow Weegies that Iain at Kenny's Music is a good person go to for a set-up

Price drop to £15.00 delivered in the UK Edit: happy to trade for strings - D'addario balanced tension sets are my favourite, but Nickel XLs, Ernie Ball and GHS are all good too. pickups now gone, just the scratchplate left Up for sale are the pickups and pickguard from my old Jazz bass, I swapped these out for Fender Original pups and a tortoiseshell guard. The Jazz went over a year ago, but came across these in a drawer - forty quid or best offer to your door :-)

Up for sale is my Skyline Duck Dunn (now known as the 44-64 Special) as I need to recoup some of the money I recently spent on an American G&L SB2. It has Lindy Fralin pickups, Hipshot Ultra-lite tuners, a jazz neck profile, matched headstock and block inlays. It may look familiar, as I bought it from Old Slapper, who I believe bought it from OBBM who had The Gallery in Camden (home of Sei Bass on the off-chance you don't know) mod it to add a matched Lindy Fralin jazz pickup at the bridge, moved the jack to the side, made the controls VVT and added a (currently unused) battery compartment. It's in very good condition - a small mark on the side of the headstock which I've shown in the photos, a tiny mark on the neck that was so small I couldn't get a clear picture of it and that's it.The pickguard isn't completely flush with the body at the tone control, I assume that's a result of the modification process and has never really bothered me as it's fairly minor. It has a really lovely tone, I used it with the jazz pup switched off most of the time where it simply sounded like a Precison should, possibly a little clearer sounding than a Fender. If needed I would then dial in a bit more aggression with the jazz pickup for the more rocking songs in our set and often got compliments on the tone from band leaders and punters. The build quality is first rate, there really is very little between this and my American made G&L in terms of build quality. I'm looking for £695.00 O.N.O shipped to your door in a Hiscox Light-Flight hardcase, though if you collect from East Grinstead, RH19 I'll obviously knock a bit off the price. Thanks for looking, if you have any questions, or want any more photos from other angles drop me a line.
I have absolutely no idea who he is ...
