I prefer larger frets, I find the jumbo frets on my G&L more comfortable than the smaller ones on the Lakland I used to have, don't really know why.

I'd have a guess at EMG DCs, they look too wide for Barts, all guesswork though.

Shame about the Troy Sanders, I love Mastodon and the look of them in the silverburst, but your comments reinforce my fears of it being too scooped and bass heavy sounding. -
Any excuse to post these photos of my workhorse - a '95 G&L SB-2 in Midnight Blue Swirl [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/20140313_220513_zpsh7ejf8mh.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/20140313_220459_zpsw5ezvm5z.jpg" class="ipsImage" />

I really like my Hyperdrive, it is a shame it's such a big footprint though: mine had an intermittent fault recently so I took the chassis off to look for obvious problems and there is a lot of space on the PCBA, Ashdown could easily condense the pedal down into a smaller case if the mood took them. Gig to gig, I typically ignore the input control and switches and adjust the centre frequency, drive and output depending on the room. I do sometimes adjust the blend, but not often. A similar pedal in a smaller chassis with stacked Q and frequency pots (rather than a switch), drive, blend and volume would be great. Rather than an input pot you could always have a pad for if the output of your bass is too hot. However, like another poster I doubt I could afford one of your creations Edit: realised my post is almost identical to Cheddatom's, but least that means there's some consistency in what people want from a parametric overdrive.
I've been to one of those pubs, I waited all night for the band to come on and just kept putting another pound in the pint glass, we even went back the week after and stayed in there all night just to double check
Wasn't an Irish bar was it?
Why does that make any difference..?
Because I don't think it's unreasonable to make allowances for a small company that is one bloke handmaking his product, particularly one that is in the early days of it's life - I understand from the person I bought mine from that my Compact is one of the earliest made. Not everything is going to be perfect when a company of that size brings their product to market, it takes time to evolve. Is my Compact a perfect cab? No, and I've never claimed it is: the handle is on the way out (though as I mentioned earlier, it's not had a bad run), the finish looks a bit amatuer and it didn't have the corner pieces fitted when I got it, so I did it myself and they definitely look like they were fitted by an amatuer, as they were
Who are?
The Barefaced who built my cab, presumably just Alex, and the Barefaced of today who have a couple of employees and CNC machines. Thay all said, TKS look like they've handled (pun intended) product introduction better than Barefaced - so it can be done.
-
I have an early gen 1 Compact and the handle has recently started showing signs of wear, hope I can get a replacement sorted when it does die. I'm not the original owner, and I've gigged pretty heavily with it in the last (almost) two years since I bought it, so not doing too badly when you consider Barefaced was probably a one man band when it was made. I would like to upgrade to a Super Compact, which I understand has better handles, but they're a different company now.
Glad I got a NEO cab when they were relatively cheap! perhaps one day the neodymium in my drivers will be worth enough to retire on... :-)
Unlikely, global neodymium prices have been going down the last couple of years.

Last night was a blinder at a local pub, we played really well to a packed out venue, great fun :-)

I used to help out at the Damnation Festival in Leeds, not been for the last three years due to having a young daughter; last time I was there, I was standing next to Liam Willson from The Dillinger Escape Plan. I was going to say something to him, but felt a bit self conscious. I'm back again this year and Cannibal Corpse are headlining the second stage, so I'm hoping to say hello to Alex Webster and get a photo of myself with him

Magic! - Rude and Bruno Mars - Treasure A couple I'm trying to get the band to do, the singer is keener on Locked Out Of Heaven, but I reckon Treasure is done less and would go down better.

Three, though in reality only two get used: G&L American SB2 G&L Tribute L2000 Squier Affinity Precision (my first bass, sticker covered and almost never used)

My old Model 1000 head / Pro4200 cab set-up was great, I traded it in for an EBS rig, which was the sound I was aiming for; the Hartke did a half-decent approximation of that though until I could afford the EBS. If I was in urgent need of cash I'd sell up my lightweight gear and get another Hartke head and cab.

I'd say to them that you're happy to play the old songs as they are recorded if that's what they want, but if they're willing, would like to add some fills/runs where appropriate. In addition, the lines you write for the new material are likely be less straight root note playing

My SB-2, I was saying to our guitarist the other week about what a workhorse it is, just does anything I throw at it [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/20140313_220431_zpsha0fibxy.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> -
We need a band to fill in for us on the 27th of September at The Green Man in Horsted Keynes, East Sussex - standard pub pop/rock covers, give me a shout if you're interested, cheers.
