1.
trivia: Charles Wright was Easy E's father. I'm guessing they didn't have too much trouble acquiring the rights!
That's not true, Eazy E's dad was called Richard
2. It's a Charles Wright sample, from a song of the same name Edit: Damn you all!
3. Good little bass without any modifications too.
4.
Yeah, that's Basschat.
You have taken my quote and used it out of context sir! You should write for The Sun
5. Why this one of course...they beat us if we say otherwise Anyone remember Bassmasta before Songsterr bought them out? There was quite a good forum there, quite similar to this in the way that it wasn't full of elitist d***s constantly arguing with each other
6. Your fingers will man up, that's pretty normal
7.
Yeah, well, I've been kicked out of a good band through being sh*t and trying to bluff it. I was 19 and it taught me a big f***ing lesson I never forgot. I still cringe thinking about it.
What happened?
8. Ask for the chords, or work them out for yourself and go from there. I doubt they're after anything too complicated
9.
There are some nice ocatves in 'Paranoid' that I am struggling to get up to speed. The band I've just joined does a cover of this so I'm gonna have to get my finger out. Literally!! (Did I mention I was in a band? I think I may have alluded to it in passing, lol )
You can cheat in that part by using your thumb for the root and a finger for the octave, give it a try
10.
I'll try and post a pic later on. I don't feel tense when playing but I'll look into it. BTW I always play seated could that be something to do with it?
Do you rest your picking forearm on the bass while you're playing? That can make your wrist hurt if you are
11. He played us right at the end and said he'd enjoyed seeing us live a few weeks ago! Quite chuffed with that
12.
I did try to take a listen to your stuff but couldn't get it to play. I'll have another crack later.
They were being funny with me before, they should settle down soon!
13. One of the songs is getting played on BBC Radio Wales after ten tonight if anyone listens to that
14. There you go.
15. Not sure where this belongs, so apolgies if it's in the wrong place! http://soundcloud.com/tsunami42 A few recordings my new band did yesterday, just trying to get people to hear it. Let us know what you think! Shameless plug over
16.
Dammit, you have to be quick around here! How about Fools Gold (Stone Roses) and Lounge Act (Nirvana)?
The Fools Gold bassline isn't the same as the main guitar riff
17. I Hope I Think I Know is off Be Here Now, so there's probably hundreds of guitar tracks on top of the already quiet bass
18. E, A and G, mostly E, I wonder why?
19. I saw Keith Chegwin giving someone a cash prize when I was on my paper round once.
20. The first songs I remember hearing are: TVC15-David Bowie Cars- Gary Numan (We had that Cool Cuts CD you got free with Carling) Wonderwall-Oasis Changing Man-Paul Weller A Girl Like You- Edwyn Collins Alright-Supergrass Probably soaked in subconsciously from my dad's car radio and tape player, except for Gary Numan which I used to repeat over and over, great memories! Edit: I also remember my mum always playing the Beautiful South
21. Guitarist: "No I won't turn the bass down on my amp, that's my sound." No, I think you'll find that's MY sound, being the bassist and all.
22. Always to the left of the drummer, it just feels like the right place to stand.
23.
Once auditioned a percussionist who approached us at a gig and offered his services. Seemed like a good guys and our funk band could use one. Sent him a tape of the set and arranged a rehearsal. He then turned up at rehearsal with TONS of gear, congas, timbales, racks of bells and bongos plus gongs and other cr@p. After about an hour to set up we started to play. All I can describe is a cacophony similar to the sound of a drumkit rolling down a flight of concrete steps. After a few mins of horrified looks between the band, we tried to suggest bits he could play - no good, eventually we called a halt to the horror, helped him pack down and in to his van and wished him the best. Think his mum must have bought him the gear, still wonder what became of that lad?
He joined Rush
24. Are you literally pushing the string towards the body of the bass? If you are then try dragging it backwards towards yourself at the same time, you'll soon stop the rattling and build up a bit of speed too. Edit: If you're already doing that, maybe a truss rod or saddle adjustment is needed?
