I wasn't much of a guitarist but soon realised that the bass was the instrument that suited my character. I fit the John Entwhistle template rather than the Flea one. I've played in bands with some superb musicians and played hundreds of gigs I would never have got as a guitarist. -
Has to be Pino for me because of the way he seems able to play in any genre at the drop of a hat. I like some of his less well known stuff as well. particularly with Robbie MacIntosh and D'Angelo. He always seems to be the one that other musicians want which must make him rather special. I also had a chat with him many, many years ago and he was such a nice bloke.

You could try standing 15 feet away from your cab as well. You'll hear it better than being right on top of it.

I'd say the Zoom B3 is great if you can get your 'core' sound out of your amp without taking up patches for preamp or amp modelling. Then you can have 3 free patches for actual effects. You can 'toggle' into different banks but you wouldn't want to try it mid song and one false move could lead to complete disaster.

Turn your phone off. The roaming signal through a bass amp isn't a good sound and neither is your mate ringing up to see if you fancy a pint.

I must have looked at the ad for this a gazillion times! Cracking amp. I talked myself out of it though because it would have overhung my cab by about 6 inches each side. Bet it sounds the absolute nuts though.

I've recently acquired a Weber Mywatt 200 which is basically a Hiwatt clone. Very reasonable money for a hand wired amp and the build quality is superb. Gigged it a couple of times now and it sounds epic. Well worth a look in my opinion. -

My Tokai Hardpuncher has aged a lot better than I have since 84. I really couldn't care less what a guitar looks like as long as it's not fake, and relics are fake.

The Grammys and Adele are indicative of the general appetite for pre packaged blandness. She's done well to swim to the top but I couldn't listen to another song about how miserable she is or watch such a self congratulatory pageant. The Grammys bears out the old adage that 'You can't polish a turd, but you can throw glitter on it'.

Loving This - New From Tedeschi Truck Band

Great band. There's something about talented players like Derek Trucks who use their fingers instead of picks which gives their playing unique character and subtlety. Jeff Beck springs to mind. Susan Tedeschi has such a fabulous vice as well. -
If you end up with a cab with a port in the back, put it close to a wall to strengthen the sound projection. I'd also say cut the lows and boost the mids/upper mids a bit. Have a wander out front when you sound check to get an idea of how loud you are in the mix. I've had cabs in the past that don't disperse the sound very well, and what is barely audible on stage is deafening 30 feet away.
