  1. I find Johnny Cash's version of Hurt quite a difficult listen, especially the video version showing how ravaged he had become by the end.
  2. Any Folk music with 'Hey Nonny No' or 'As I was walking down the Street' in the lyrics can send me into an uncontrollable rage.
  3. I used to get really sore finger tips on my fretting hand when I used Rotosound Swing 66 strings. Now using Elixirs and don't have problems at all. Rotos seem to have a very abrasive finish when new.
  4. I don't think you can go wrong with Tecamp. The other amp I'd add to your list is the Gallien Kreuger MB500 Fusion which can produce pretty much any tone.
  5. Pino on Tear Your Playhouse Down. Octave + Chorus + Fretless MM I think.
  6. Having slipped gracefully into middle age, Fat Boy Slim will now be known as Slim Boy Fat.
  7. Take a look at the TechSoundsystems 2x12 MacDaddy has in the For Sale section. I use the vertically stacked version which is an absolute beast of a cab. This one has folded speakers and it will be tiny but pack one hell of a punch.
  8. Louis Johnson slap technique could take your eye out but sounds amazing.
  9. Saddened by the news of the death of Matt Irving. He was an accomplished all round musician having played with the likes of Manfred Mann, Paul Young, Robbie MacIntosh. Most recently he could be found playing accordion and keyboards for Paul Young's Tex Mex band Los Pacaminos. He was also a fine bass player and a great entertainer. R.I.P.
  10. Fine if you're a Pro with a big tax bill and need to write some off I suppose. Wish I could have set my business up with an 11k outlay.
  11. After blasting out the rock for a couple of hours I'm partial to a bit of Fat Freddy's Drop or Erykah Badu.
  12. Have 'Shakin' hands with the Holy Ghost' in our set.
  13. I'd have thought either would be up to a gig volume wise and the only question would be which sound was preferable.
  14. I blame Simon bloody Cowell for the continuing demise of music venues and live music. Millions of people who used to have a life now find themselves glued to the sofa every Saturday night. I also blame him for global warming, the pain in my left knee and the rise in the price of fish fingers. Bastard!
  15. I have a mate who was a navigator in a USAF helicopter for years. He was telling me that his hearing damage manifests itself as; not being able to separate sound sources as in, being on the phone when somebody in the room talks to you and the whole thing turns into an unintelligible mush. The damage was done by long term exposure to low frequency noise and it described precisely what I suffer from.
  16. Check out Robbie MacIntosh's album Emotional Bends.
  17. Have used the 2x12 version of this cab for a couple of years and it is truly awesome. God only knows what this thing is capable of. Build quality is second to none, the weight defies belief and they sound stunning. GLWTS.
  18. Similar to Frank above, we play Sexy Little Thing by Chicken Foot. Goes down a storm. We do the Blackberry Smoke one too.
  19. I'm quite partial to a bit of Ludovico Einaudi on a Sunday morning.
  20. Pissed up bloke came up to me once in the middle of a song and yelled in my ear "I've written a song. I'll give you the words and chords in the break and you can play it in the second set".
  21. Don't know about the cab but the WT550 is a tone monster.
  22. +1 for the MB Fusion. If you wanted to go 2nd hand, a Streamliner would seem to fit the bill and I'd also have a look at the Eden WT550.
  23. Was going to use my Genz Streamliner head with it which I'd imagine is similar to the ToneHammer.
  24. I'm on the lookout for a small cab to use for rehearsals and a few quiet(ish) gigs. !x12 would be good but have also spotted the Phil Jones 4x5 Compact. Anyone had any experience of them or have any recommendations? I also like the look of the TKS 1x12 but don't have a big budget.
