  1. He probably bought it from Thomann a couple of days ago.
  2. Wanting everything on a plate, immediately, is how the modern world is I'm afraid. Even those who don't get feel that they are somehow entitled.
  3. I'd take a good look at the MB 500 Fusion. 2 channels (foot-switchable) is a big plus It's also tiny, loud and very versatile.
  4. I'd never get anyone to play it in a band, but purely from my own enjoyment I've been playing/learning Mac the Knife. Love that walking stuff.
  5. If you want something small (i.e. class D) to take gigging I'd recommend the Genz Benz Streamliner. Warm, fat tone and plenty of poke. Seem to sell for silly cheap money as well and the only reliability issue I've heard of is the blue LED lights packing up. I've never had this or any other problem with mine.
  6. Always use them. Great selection and always super quick.
  7. You're not the bloke off The Fast Show with the catchphrase '.......which was nice', are you?
  8. Bought a Tokai Precision off Eamon. Top bloke - recommended.
  9. Haven't used the Eden pedal but no reason to doubt it would be good. I have a Markbass Super Booster on my pedal board which give a signal boost but also has the VLE and VPF filters which give quite a bit of tone shaping. I have it on all the time when gigging because I like the tone.
  10. Blue - I guess if the money is your prime motivator then you play anything to earn the bucks. For me, playing music I don't like is a chore and spoils my enjoyment of something I like doing. Music isn't my livelihood - it's something I want to enjoy.
  11. My experience; Better money (sometimes exceptional) but, loads of hanging about, loads of travelling, loads of crap music, loads of listening to boring wedding speeches, loads of hours due to early set ups etc., loads of friction in the band due to all of the above. Expect to be treated like a human jukebox too.
  12. I can't add pics, links to Youtube or even 'quote' previous posts.
  13. I've always said that bass players need to be solid before they are flash. Same applies to drummers but unfortunately it seems that many of them want to try the flashy fills without being able to keep tempo and seem to think that hey pull it off.
  14. Been playing 20 yrs+ now and have never felt much love for Fender or Precisions in particular. However, it felt a bit weird being surrounded by so much Precision love that when the opportunity arose to 'treat' myself, I started to have some Precision GAS. I had previously become royally p***ed off with Fender for their treatment of Genz Benz (amongst others) and had vowed not to support them in any way. Whilst perusing the F/S section a 1980's Tokai Hard Puncher caught my eye. Black with Rosewood fretboard hit the mark aesthetically for me, and newly strung with a set of flats (which I also have little experience of). Resistance was futile and a deal was done. Well, in short, I'm a bit knocked out by it. Lovely thing to play, superb neck, great tone. I cant put the damn thing down. I waned something could have a fiddle with, so I have a Custom Shop 62 pickup on the way (yes, I know it's Fender so I'm a bit ashamed but I think this bass deserves it) and a shielding kit. Looking forward to the next band rehearsal when I can hear it at full tilt in the mix. Happy days.
  15. I wanted a drive pedal to give a slight volume boost and add a bit of break up to my sound. Nothing excessive but just enough to fill out the sound in some songs and while the guitarist was soloing. I tried a Catalinbread SFT for a while but found the volume boost a bit uncontrollable and now use a Way Huge Green Rhino which does exactly what I want. Don't know if that helps at all.
  16. My only advice is; if you buy something like a Line6 or Behringer, buy second hand and very cheap because resale value is zero. If you go for something more expensive go for a decent make like Fender, Markbass, Tecamp. You can lose can more money on working your way up to what you really want than it would cost to buy the thing in the first place.
  17. Tell 'em you feel undervalued and that you're off to pastures new and that if you've misjudged them they need to get in touch to clear the air.
  18. For me, the bass really comes alive in a live gig context. I enjoy noodling around, learning and rehearsing, but the live stuff is what really floats my boat.
  19. If you're talking Country bassists its 1.....5.......1.......5........1........5
  20. I reckon some players struggle to hear themselves and assume that more bass eq and more volume will sort it out. Instead it makes in into a boomy mess. I also think they don't distinguish between what sounds good at low volume and what works in a live mix. It probably seems counter-intuitive to turn bass down to make it easier to hear.
  21. For home use, learning stuff, general quiet practise I use a Line 6 LD15. Input for MP3, Computer or whatever you like and headphones socket. Huge range of sounds available (as with all Line 6 stuff), range of effects and seriously cheap too. Only thing it doesn't have is an onboard tuner.
  22. Either; He came across the Ocean with his Gallions an Guns... Or Do the Shake 'n Vac and put the freshness back....... Can't decide.
  23. The issues are highlighted when a decent brand shifts production to the far east (like Eden). Cheap components can ruin a hard earned reputation, especially when the price doesn't change.
  24. Guitarist in my band has had dozens of amps over the years. My favourite is a Blackstar HT100. All valve and costs a fraction of some of the other stuff he has tried. Personally, I don't think you can get a decent clean sound from any Marshall I've heard. Fender Twin is a nice amp but don't know about price.
  25. Best Precision I ever played was a Lakland.
