  1. I use a Catalinbread SFT to add a bit of crunch to the bass sound. Not into distortion or major fuzz really, but this pedal reacts nicely to the dynamics of your playing. Plenty of demos on Youtube if memory serves me right.
  2. Great pedal. Have a bump.
  3. Bernard Edwards (pretty much anything).
  4. After God only knows how many gigs.................I don't play it any more. (Runs off into the distance waving arms in the air and laughing hysterically)
  5. Love my current rig for sound, portability, cut in the mix, looks and just about anything else. It's a definite keeper. Tecamp Black Jag 500. into a TechSondsysems ND 2x12. Sometimes use a Genz Streaminer 600 (sonic equivalent of hot chocolate). My trusty old Stingray 4 (recently fitted with John East preamp) or Lakland 55 01 (Soon to be fitted with John East preamp). Board consists of Korg Pitchblack, Pigtronix Envelope Phaser, Catalinbread SFT, TC Electonics Nova Dynamics, MXR Octaver, Markbass SuperBooster and a Ditto Looper. Have to rely on pedals now for GAS control!
  6. Such good basses these. Super playable neck with a tight and punchy low B. Big range of sounds from the big Barts. I have exactly this bass and love it to bits. Have a bump Geezer.
  7. Much as I hate Fender for pulling the plug on Genz Benz, the Rumbles are very good amps.
  8. Saw them at The Stables at Milton Keynes last week. Awesome! New guy on bass (Ollie Collins) sight reading the whole set but was right on it!
  9. Really good compressor these. LEDs let you exactly how much compression is going on and when it kicks in. Can also double up as a noise gate. Havean'I've alredy got one' type bump.
  10. Tecamp is great stuff. Might want to try a Gallien Kreuger MB Fusion if you get the chance. Haven't tried one myself but have only heard good things about them.
  11. Only good things to say about the Catalinbread SFT. Great pedal to crunch up your tone a bit, or a lot. Have a bump.
  12. Never did get the whole 'relic' thing. That looks horrible though.
  13. Desperado is the only soundtrack I regularly listen to. From Dusk til Dawn is similar (Tito and Tarantula).
  14. Chelsea Dagger goes down well.
  15. ^ 20th Century ended 15 years ago dude!
  16. When I played in a large functions band (anything from 6 to 13 on stage) I was very much plug in and play. I now play in a band with 1 guitarist, singer and drummer and the bass has to fill in a lot of sounds in the stuff we play. Consequently I have an ever expanding pedal board.
  17. If you're happy buying used a Genz Streamliner 600 with a Barefaced Compact is a good match up.
  18. You can roll a bit of the low end off on the guitar. If your sound is a bit 'thick' to start with I wouldn't think a Precision would be the best choice. A Jazz would do better in my opinion.
  19. There's also the question of sound dispersal. I used to have a 1x15 and 4x10 setup way back. If I could hear it well enough it would be blowing the windows out at the back of the room. I now use a 2x12 cab which I can hear very well on stage but the gig volume is (so I'm told) on the button. It's plenty loud by the way.
  20. Replace 1 song I can't stand in the setlist with 1 song I like playing. Probably way too ambitious if I'm honest.
  21. The Blind Faith classic 'Can't find my way home' was written by Stevie Winwood as a tribute to his favourite racing pigeon Nigel, who failed to return after being released near Wakefield in 1974. Some say he lost his sense of direction due to an ear infection, but others insist he simply couldn't stand Eric Clapton and did a runner.
  22. Topic was done and dusted with the first post!
  23. I think it's a cultural thing. Bassists are generally happy to stay at the back and provide the foundation for guitarists and the like to, well.......show off more often than not. There are good guitarists and bad ones, and in my experience the good ones know what not to play and know when to shut up. I'd assume that the ones who crave the spotlight on social media are mostly the ones who don't know when to shut up.
  24. Used to use a DC Brick. Faultless, but when I got a TC Nove Dynamics and a Markbass Booster I needed 12v so switched to a T Rex Fuel Tank. Never an ounce of trouble. DC Brick is for sale by the way (crafty plug eh?)
