1. Robbie MacIntosh is just wonderful also. Saw him with Pino in his band around the time of his Emotional Bends album which Pino also played on. Happy memories.
2. Spotted both these Pumas on the F/S page. They are like buses - you hang around for ages then 2 turn up together. Unfortunately I was stood at the bus stop but didn't have the fare!
3. Cheap Schroeder 2x12s in the F/S section are small and light but pack a mighty punch.
4. As with the advice above, it sounds like the guitars are hogging your frequencies. They need to EQ.
5. If you want something to 'noodle' along with, try Young Lust from The Wall.
6. If you can find one a Laney LC30 (early version) is a cracking amp, especially if you upgrade the speaker.

8. Bump
9. Line 6 LD15 is a good little practice amp. Plenty loud and jam packed with features. Has an input for MP3 player or whatever for you to play along with (through headphones if you like). Plenty of tones and effects on board and well under £100.
10.
I have noticed that the resident experts on here are quick to tell everyone not to use mismatched cabs even though a 1x15 and 2x10 was a very popular rig for a long time yet the most popular mismatched rig I see now is normally some kind of Barefaced mountain of various cabs piled up with some on their side etc?
That has just given me an idea for a screenplay. It's about 2 bass players who take a bit of a shine to each other...........................
11. I used to play in a band which did mostly originals but some covers. We used to do It's Not Unusual by Tom Jones as a ska song and it was a proper laugh. The punters absolutely loved it.
12. I have the same type of setup you're talking about. I have the envelope filter (3 Leaf) first, TC Nova compressor next, MXR Octaver next and a MarkBass Booster at the end. Seems to work pretty well.
13. Ely, Cambridgeshire.
14. Dunlop MXR DC Brick power supply. 7x9v outputs and 3x18v outputs. Protects against surges and overloads. Only used a couple of times. These retail at about £125. For sale at £85 plus postage. http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae240/kevin4020/DSCN0398_zps764ed6f6.jpg
15. Trace Elliot GP12SMX head for sale. Green 'carpet' finish. 12 band EQ, 2 pre shape filters, high and low compression, valve/solid state blend control and DI out socket . Widely regarded as one of the best amps Trace ever made, this thing has bags of power and sounds fantastic if you like a warm, fat tone. Not really fussed about selling, but this amp is way too good to be sat around as a back up. £275 plus shipping. 16. Genz Streamliner won't sound 'thin' and are cheap as chips now.
17. Sad news. Here's a couple of tracks from a gig I was at God knows how many years ago. Livingstone Brown doing his thing on the bass by the way. PH was a very talented bloke. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oK9a-yMluag http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFoaHJnQzS4
18. Nothing new really. I generally find that when soundchecking or recording the process generally goes; 1) 40% of available time for singer to decide which mic sounds best, where is the best place to stand, how much reverb to use etc.... 2) 30% of available time for guitarist(s) to dial in 'their sound', achieve deafening enough level of foldback, position pedal board in most inconvenient position on the stage, set levels for solos etc.... 3)29.998% of available time to set kick drum and snare levels and monitors for drummer with obligatory 10 minutes of bomp bpomp bomp from said kick drum. 4) Remaining 0.002% of available time for bass player to play 1 low frequency note and 1 high frequency note to be told "Yeah! You're good to go mate".
19. Can't you sort out the lack of low end with your EQ? Alternatively, I use a MarkBass Booster pedal sometimes which adds a fair bit of punch to the sound. (My setup is a Streamliner 600 into a TechSoundsystems 2x12 so is pretty similar).
20. Cry of Love - Diamonds and Debris
21.
Very interesting. I am tempted to go for a streamliner or shuttle to go with the cab. Which would you or anyone else here suggest I should snap up?. I play in a classic rock covers band and either use a Sadowsky J bass or a Fender pre cbs jazz
Depends what sound you're after. The Streamliner gives a rich, warm sound along the lines of Trace Elliot or Ampeg with some 'valve' drive on tap if you want it. The Shuttle is a crisper sound and has some shaping filters onboard. I use a Streamliner 600 in a classic rock band through a 2x12 cab and it ticks all the boxes for me.
22. If you want light weight with power and tone I'd recommend a Genz Benz Streamliner(600 or 900) and a Schroeder 2x12 cab which are both currently available in the For Sale section. These weigh next to nothing but have some proper grunt.
23. Where do they find them? Every time I watch Later (or as much of it as I can bear) they seem to have surpassed the previous level of pap by some distance.
24. I have a B3 which is fine at home and when I occasionally use it at gigs, but it buzzes badly at rehearsals. Can only put it down to an issue with the 240v supply there.
