There's a blue SBV500 for sale locally for £400. It was £600 when it was first listed and looks in pretty good nick.

Are there any issues with this? I have a Japanese Squier P Bass neck with a 62mm width at the heel (2 & 7/16" in old money), but the standard width of a neck pocket is 63.5mm (2 and 1/2"). It would leave a minimal gap at either side of the neck, but does it offer any problems relating to alignment that I should take into consideration? Or anything else for that matter? I'm thinking of the old 70s Fender basses where the pockets and the heels were seldom a tight fit.

Genuine Fender gold anodised aluminium P Bass scratchplate. Bought last summer and had it fitted to my Matt Freeman P Bass briefly, but I've since returned it to the stock pickguard. Looks to be about £50 new from Thomann and DV247 before shipping and taxes, selling this for £40 Inc shipping. It's in very good condition, with just a couple of marks on the screw holes for the thumb rest, which you wouldn't see if you have the rest fitted.

Can't say I really know too much about this; it was fitted to a Squier JV Precision I bought recently as a sort of restoration project, and when I bought the bass I had designs on using one from The Creamery in lieu of the original one. This is in very good condition and sounds very nice in a thumps 60s P Bass way, and has plenty of (waxed, cloth) wire left. I can't find a great deal of information about this particular model but as far as I know they're handwound in Russia, and the guitar pickups seem to get very good reviews. Price is £45 plus postage, although with not much to go on, I don't know if I've priced it accurately (let me know if I haven't).

Fender 70s fretless neck on an unknown body
Jono Bolton posted a topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
No idea what the body is, but the neck looks legitimate. Needs a bit of a clean up, and all monies go to charity. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FENDER-Precision-Bass-Guitar-1986-1987-See-Listing-W4-/324687002378?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 -
My latest acquisition - a Squier JV Precision Bass. It's had a pretty rubbish refin in Fiesta Red, and there's been a Jazz pickup fitted at some point that has been filled in and subsequently sunk slightly, but it's nice and light, and the neck is outstanding. It's going to get a new Creamery pickup to replace the one that's in there (anyone heard of Alexander Pribora?), and it's booked in with David Wilson for a Shell Pink refinish in a couple of months time.

The best guitar refinishers in the UK.

I have my JV Precision booked in with David Wilson in a couple of months for a refinish in Shell Pink. Price was very reasonable. -
I googled the name and saw Hexham and assumed it was the same fella. Is there a link to contact him? I couldn't find anything

Is he Walshy on here?

I got a bit carried away on ebay earlier and won myself a Squier JV Precision (for an admittedly low price), but it requires a refin. It had a Jazz Bass pickup fitted at one point which has been filled but the fill has sunk so requires sorting at the same time. I'm looking to get it refinished in Shell Pink; any recommendations? I've been looking at https://rexterguitars.co.uk/pages/refinishing which look decent, but wanted to open it up to the board to see who gets the thumbs up. Happy to pack it up and send it away to someone who will do a good job of it.

Seems it was dodgy pots. Put some new CTS pots in, and some Gavitt cloth wire, and there's no hum at all. Did a fairly tidy job too, if I do say so myself.

I've ordered some new pots and wire and will nick the cap and socket from the current wiring and have a bash at rewiring it at the weekend.

I have an issue with a buzz from my P Bass. With the volume up full, and the tone turned all the way down, there's no buzz. With the volume full, and the tone turned all the way up, there's a bit of buzz, but once I start to roll the volume back down, the buzz increases, but disappears once the volume is rolled all the way down. The bass has two grounds; one to the bridge, and one to a lug in the cavity. Everything seems to be wired up correctly. The issue doesn't seem to be from my amp, or the wiring in the room, as when I plugged my Jazzmaster in, there were no issues. Any suggestions?

Precision Bass bridge cover question
Jono Bolton replied to Jono Bolton's topic in Accessories and Misc
Good find. I have a Squier Classic Vibe cover and that measures an inch, but I always thought the Squier one was larger than standard due to the high mass bridge; possibly it's wider, or deeper, rather than taller. -
A straight-forward request; does anyone have a Fender P Bass bridge cover and would be able to tell me how high the top of the cover sits above the body of the bass?

I'm looking to transplant everything from my Matt Freeman, so it'd be sunburst, gold guard, tinted maple neck. -

On the 10-hole, "original" pickguards, there isn't a screw beside the volume and tone knobs as there is in yours; there's just one screw in the middle of where those two would be.
