  1. The chip is glued back in place and doesn't look too bad; we'll see how it holds up. The neck is going back and I'll just have to try and exercise some patience (not my strong suit) to find the right one.
  2. It's a really great neck, and if I don't find a suitable swap for it then I'll be happy enough to keep hold of it, but I feel like a change and think a rosewood board and tort guard would look great on this.
  3. Price drop: £225 plus postage Fender Classic 50s Precision Bass neck, maple fingerboard. Made in Mexico, 2004, the precursor to the current Vintera line. Tinted lacquer finish, 7.25" radius, 44mm nut width. Looks a lot more tanned in the pictures than it is in real life. In very good condition overall, with only one notable ding on the back of the neck, a bit of clouding around the tuner hole of the top string (G) which can only be seen from certain angles, and a scrape on the treble side corner of the heel from an aluminium pickguard that was slightly too tight. I bought this on here a year ago but I'm switching the neck for one with a rosewood fretboard.
  4. I had the same thing. I put a piece of blu tack on it.
  5. Apologies in advance for the guitar content. I'm putting together a Telecaster and the heel of the neck is a very tight fit. Whilst trying to remove the neck from the pocket, I managed to pull off a pretty big chip at the edge of the pocket. The chip came off intact, and it's currently being stored in a safe place. Is glueing it back in place once the rest of the work is done a viable option, or am I looking at having to get some matching paint and building up the layers from the bottom?
  6. I won't lie, I'm tempted to take the neck off and keep it, it's a joy to play. Seems a shame to separate it out though.
  7. Fender Performance Series 18.6ft instrument cable in black, one straight and one angled jack. I bought this in 2017 for gigging but it hasn't been used in years and is taking up space in my spares box, which is at bursting point. Yours for the cost of postage (about a fiver).
  8. Tonerider AC2N Neck Humbucker with nickel cover. I bought this a couple of months ago for £50 to put in my Telecaster (also for sale) but I switched back to the stock single coil. In great condition with some negligible play marks on the surface. Full length of wire left as I didn't cut any of them, all in great condition. I can also chuck in a couple of black pickup surrounds, one flat and one angled as I'll not need them. Can post if required, would probably be about £4, or can be collected in Glasgow.
  9. Squier Classic Vibe 50s Telecaster in white blonde. One of the original run from 2008, made in China. I've only had this for about three months but I've got another project on the go and this needs to go to make space and raise funds. It's seen a bit of action and there are various superficial chips around the edge of the body, but it's a great player and the neck is brilliant and in very good nick. It sounds great too; as far as I know the pickups in the Chinese models were Toneriders. It's got full-sized Alpha pots which were standard in the early models, and I've recently replaced the stock switch with a decent quality one as the cheap original was fried. Comes with a Ritter gig bag. Recently restrung with Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys. Pickup from Baillieston/Uddingston area of Glasgow. I can also post if required.
  10. The necks on these are great; I've got one on my sonic blue bitsa. I had a Roadworn neck on there before but the Classic 50s was much nicer imo. You'll struggle to get a better P Bass for the money than this.
  11. The Fender Mark Hoppus bass is a P neck on a Jazz body, but it's got a P pickup in it. Putting a Jazz neck on a Precision is quite a common mod; maybe buy a Jazz and find someone to swap necks with?
  12. I'm in two minds about this; I was going to use this for a build but it requires some work and I'm not entirely sure I can be bothered with doing what needs to be done. It's a Squier JV Precision neck with maple fingerboard that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. The chap I bought it from had owned it from new but didn't get on with the neck and replaced it with a slimmer one. At one point he had taken the frets out and filled the slots with some sort of wood filler, though he wasn't sure exactly what. It's not the nearest job and the fretboard is unfinished. The truss rod was loosened while it wasn't being used; as far as I can tell it all works as it should. The nut, string tree, and tuners are original and are all that was included with the neck when I bought it. It could possibly be used as-is, or it could be refretted, or you could do as I had planned and clean out the slots, put a veneer in there and refinish the fretboard and keep it as fretless. Price is £150 plus shipping, or you can pick it up if you're in the Glasgow area.

  13. I had the opportunity to try one of these a couple of weeks ago and it was very nice.
  14. God, that's nice
  15. I'm not a fan of it, but I've seen some pretty horrible rosewood boards as well.
  16. As far as I can tell, everything is 100% original and stock, and the bridge/tuners/pots all function as they should.
  17. Price drop - £350 Would trade/px for a decent quality P Bass body (black or natural preferred) 2011 Squier Classic Vibe 50s Precision in Butterscotch Blonde; one of the earlier Chinese-made models. I bought this used at the start of the year but it's probably the least-used of my basses. It's in excellent condition for it's age, I don't think the previous owner had used it much. There are a couple of small dents near the jack socket but it's otherwise unmarked. Currently strung with Elites Detroit flats, the tuners are good and the pickup and pots all work fine. I thought I had more pictures of it but it seems I don't, so I'll sort them out in the morning when the light's better. Comes with a Fender gig bag and I've got a box up in the loft so shipping is possible. Any questions, just ask.
  18. Aye, approximately 70 years
  19. Forgot I also have a digital luggage scale and that says 2.13kg
  20. My very basic kitchen scales say it's 2.1kg on the nose
  21. Fender MIM Classic 50s Precision Bass body, stripped and routed for a Jazz pickup in the bridge position with a side mounted jack socket. I bought this on here a couple of weeks ago with a view to putting together another P Bass but I'm not sure I need a fifth and have some other projects to attend to first. The body just needs a bit of sanding and it's ready to paint. Price is what I paid for it a fortnight ago.
  22. The Chinese Classic Vibes were excellent; even if you took the price out of the equation, they were just good instruments. I think it was definitely intentional to merge the VM and CV lines to drop the quality on them and move them further from the lowest rung of the fender ladder.
  23. I had one of those in Daphne Blue. Really good quality and one I wish I'd kept hold of. I paid £800 for it 2 years ago and sold it for the same price about a year later.
