  1. Could you not ask for both? Attach the steel grill to the wooden frame and then have the silver cloth over the top?
  2. Emerald blue is very nice.
  3. The LB100 is seriously tidy, although I'd like some more choices for finish, rather than just sunburst or red.
  4. EDIT: I just re-read the thread and realised that the OP refers to single-speaker cabs. I really should read things properly.
  5. Two of my biggest gear-related regrets both involve Ashdown. There was an Ashdown ABM 500 1x15 combo just 15 minutes away from me for £125 that I dithered on for too long, and the other was an Ashdown MAG 414 (4 ohm 4x10) cab for £100. Annoyingly, I had the cash for both. I need to stop sleeping on the stuff that's mega-cheap and just buy it, because for those prices I could have easily got my money back if I didn't like them.
  6. If I had £3000 to spend on a bass, I probably wouldn't spend £3000 on a bass. I would spend maybe £1K, tops, but my tastes are simple and I only really like P Basses. In fact, I only really like the one I've already got. I'd probably just get it a decent set-up and spend the rest on something else. I may be tempted to splash out and buy the Fender 50s Precision in pink or the Squier Classic Vibe Precision in Sonic Blue that are for sale near me, but I'm not an overly GASsy person.
  7. As said, it's an ET-280. I always liked these, I think they look pretty cool.
  8. That Peavey was my first gigging amp when I was 18 or so. From memory it's about 130W, and would be more than capable for what he's after. Try and haggle the price down to £90 and use the extra tenner for a sack trolley to shift it about, because it weighs a fecking ton.
  9. I've got the Fender flats on my P Bass; they're 55-105, but they feel a lot heavier than the 105 rounds I usually use. I've had them on for 9 months now, and they still sound bright, but have smoothed out a bit.
  10. Any chance anyone's going to be driving from the Midlands to the Glasgow area with room for a cab?

  11. I'd never heard of this bass before but it looks awfy smart
  12. I've never really been a Limelight fan but that's absolutely incredible
  13. If it can't be fixed, I'd recommend the Aguilar Tonehammer for sale in the Marketplace if you want a wee amp. Otherwise, stick with Ashdown.
  14. I misread the title and was wondering why so many people were going for the Peavey. Re-read it and realised it was the Ashdown Electric Blue; horrible, shitey wee amps. Any Peavey would easily be better, but out of interest, which TNT combo is it? Peavey produced TNTs for over 20 years, going through several design changes. If it's one of the older ones with silver stripes, definitely get it. Whichever it is though, it'll weigh an absolute ton.
  15. I've honestly never heard anyone say a word against Ampeg. Are you sure you're not thinking about Ashdown? They've long been a proper "love-it-or-hate-it" amp.
  16. New head, now with a new volume and distortion pot. I love the slightly squat look of it. I still have the Mark IV but I need to list that for sale at some point.
  17. Someone on my street was selling one of these for £75 last week; I was sorely tempted to go and get it.
  18. That looks amazing
  19. Good to know there's a long-scale version; I thought they only had short-scale. Is there much neck dive? It's always a concern for me with these types of bass.
  20. The colour looks like this Ltd Edition Power Blue: https://rguitars.co.uk/products/hofner-verythin-ltd-edition-bigsby-power-blue Are these Hofners any good? I quite like the look of the Verythin Bass
  21. The string makes contact with the fret, not the fingerboard. That the fingerboard material makes a difference to the tone is a myth IMO. The only thing that might make a difference to the sound is the fact that maple fingerboards are usually lacquered and will potentially resonate less, but the difference would be marginal.
  22. Maybe not the cab for me then as the Peavey Century is a pretty bright-sounding head
  23. The 2x12 looks tempting. 200W at 4 ohms is enough for me as my head only puts out 120W at that impedance.
  24. Not sure about that; the second-hand prices have shot up over the last couple of years. If you mean the 70s P Bass, that's still available to buy in shops so the second-hand value might be lower, but for the discontinued models you're easily looking at £300 if you sell in the right place. I reckon the 70s P Bass, and all the current CV models will be discounted in the next few months.
