1. My Matt Freeman has a gloss neck and I've never though it was problem. In fact, when I'm playing, I found that if my hand's sweaty it slides around effortlessly. Maybe I'm sweating too much! My pal's recording studio currently has a VM Jazz with a satin neck that I didn't care for. I like the amber tint on the gloss neck as well.
2. It is a Classic Vibe neck from the butterscotch model; it was the only one with the tinted finish.
3. DPD are excellent; things arrive when they say they will and you can track your parcel every step of the way. They'll even tell you they name of the delivery driver.
4. I got the paint off the body of the bass using nail polish remover, but any suggestions on the scratchplate? It's very thick.
5. As it turns out, the scratchplate on the 50s Precision is white and has been painted black. What would be the best method to try and remove it? Some of it got on to the bass itself underneath the plate, how can I get it off without damaging the poly finish?
6. I decided earlier in the year that I was going to reduce my stuff and managed to get down to 2 basses and an amp, cab and tuner. The second bass only made its way in as it was ridiculously cheap on Gumtree, so one is kept at home and one in the studio. I even sold my rack and replaced it with a single mini-stand so there's nowhere to put new basses. After years spent buying and selling and picking up stuff I don't need it was quite cathartic to eventually get rid of everything surplus to requirements. It's also refreshing to have gear that works as I've almost always had some sort of project on the go that never quite makes it to completion.
7.
Is this a standard 13 hole p bass fitment?
It is, yes.
8. Had fun with this the other day...
9. Spotted on the Wunjo Instagram; a white Precision and a black Jazz: https://instagram.com/p/BKdHK8iB5UK/
10. Squier Matt Freeman > Peavey Mark IV > Peavey 215 came in at less that £450. If I swap the Matt Freeman out for my Classic Vibe it's a £400 rig. It's heavy, in both senses of the word. I love it.
11. I don't know how useful this is to you, but my Peavey 2x15 has two Behringer active PA subs in it. They don't sound very much like traditional 15s though, they're full-range drivers so have bags of clarity which no one expects (myself included). I can't imagine they'd be expensive, but I also can't imagine they'd be easy to find either.
12. Bought a scratchplate from Alex and it was delivered quickly in one of the most impressive packing jobs I've ever seen. Top guy, very good communication too
13. Gave my back up CV Precision a facelift today courtesy of ratman and his white CV scratchplate (all-nickel bridge and flat-top knobs already added).
14. Squier CV Precision Bass scratchplate, tortoiseshell. Taken off my Fiesta Red Precision. Great condition. No pictures just now but can get some if needed. £12.50 posted.
15.
The Classic Vibe is not in his price range
There's a Squier CV in Inca Silver for sale on here for £199. For me it's an absolute no-brainer; if I could get on with Jazzes I'd have had it. My two Squiers are excellent instruments and incredibly well made so I'd have no qualms buying it blind. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/289529-fender-squier-classic-vibe-jazz-mint/page__pid__3106246#entry3106246 Additionally, I've tried the VM Squiers and while they're nice, the difference in quality between them and the CVs is night and day.
16.
Alright mate, It's this one - https://www.gak.co.uk/en/peavey-410tvx-bass-cab-4-ohms/17430 I live just outside of Blackpool. Are you playing at Hopstar 39? I know Gary Ward who regularly puts on gigs there... Ta.
It's at Sunbird Records apparently. I'll see what the transport situation is and if there's room for it I'll give you a shout.
