1. Got them yesterday, cheers Ben! The postie obviously didn't fancy bringing them to the flat so I went to pick them up from the office. All arrived fine, thanks very much!
2. Bought a set of Rotosound strings from Ben, only got them yesterday because the postie couldn't be arsed actually bringing them to my flat, but nothing to do with Ben, posted quickly, according to the delivery slip they would've arrived quickly too if it was for the bleedin' Royal Mail! So easy to deal with, recommended!
3. Hi everyone, I'm looking to do a straight trade if possible, trading my Wilkinson Vintage Bass Bridge: http://www.axesrus.com/Hardware/BassBridges/WBBC/WBBCFront.jpg For one of these: http://www.themusiczoo.com/PDGImages/Fender_Vintage_Bass_Bridge_Chrome_990804100_576.jpg The Wilkinson bridge is currently fitted to my P Bass, but I much prefer the old style BBOT bridge as opposed to the big chunky brass saddles on the Wilko. Does wonders for sustain, but I like my Ps to have a bit of thud. Only really looking for bridge with threaded saddles, thanks! Any takers?
4. Never mind, just seen that it's already sold!
5. Is that a big scratch on the back or is it just the light?
6. That's a lovely bass, it looks even better with the vintage-style bridge!

I've only discovered the Modern Player series in the last few days, that is a fantastic looking bass! If only I had something worth trading!
8. Hi all I've got a set of Schaller strap locks in chrome, currently attached to my P but I'm not gigging anymore, just playing at home so I don't really need them, I'm not going to be throwing any rock star shapes any time soon! Complete set, in great condition, £12 inc postage?
9. Well done, £340 is a great price! I tried one in the old Sound Control up here in Glasgow and it was fantastic, great sound, lovely quality and I really loved the chunky neck. I ordered the black one that was showing as 'in stock' online, only to get an email back telling me it was out of stock and wouldn't be back in for a couple of months. I cancelled the order and subsequently built a bitsa Jazz, and I still regret not having a little patience and waiting longer for a cracking bass
10. Bump! Dimarzio strap still here, swap for a set of new/slightly used rounds, or a BBOT bridge?
11.
That's really unusual, I like it!
Ditto!
12. Isn't this a Vintage Modified P Bass? If it is that's a cracking price with the upgrades. http://cachepe.zzounds.com/media/quality,85/0326800505v1_hi-aeaaf204e9e535a0435a62e088e6f4b1.jpg
13.
Still available Done some homework on Fender forums re. the black label question. The black label was used by Fender Mexico for a limited time only between 1993 and 1998. It can be found exclusively on the rather short lived mexican “Traditional” series for the Precision Bass. The guitars with the black label consisted mostly of overstock american made Fender necks and bodies. The parts were shipped to Mexico for assembly with mexican made pickups and far eastern hardware and electronics.
Surely that means you're getting a bass made with American parts, for a snip over £200? Bargain!
14. Not my usual cup of tea, but that is a lovely looking bass!
15. Hi all! I've been scouring Gumtree in search of a new guitar and have found a Squier Strat for a relatively small price, but I don't really know enough about this particular model to know if it's worthwhile. I'll press the seller for more info, but my experience with Squiers is limited to the Standard and Affinity series'. The guitar I'm looking at has a bold black Squier logo, and says 'Strat' on the headstock, rather than Stratocaster as my old Standard Series guiitar read. The seller says it's made in China and it's a 50th Anniversary model (presumably Fender's 50th, so I'm guessing it's from about '96-ish). Does anyone know any more about these models, what they're like to play, value etc? The seller said in his ad that it needs a bit of work but is asking for £50, I'd like to try and get him down on that but I would need to make sure I'm armed with some knowledge of the instrument before I try to haggle with him. The Gumtree ad only shows the headstock but I've had some picture messages through of the body from him, but I've attached the headstock pic in the hope that someone recongnises the logo. Any help here would be great guys!
16. Cool, my second question is when you say '£120 for both', do you mean £120 for each of them, or £120 for the pair?
17.
You do realise that leaving out the tone control pot and cap will result in getting a 'tone control set to maximum treble'? If that's what you're after then that's fine, if not then you might want to add a little preset and capacitor and just tuck it inside the body cavity when you've found the tone you're after.
I do realise that the treble will be full if I remove the tone control from the circuit, that's why I'm looking to do it, I always have the treble up full on my P, I'm looking to do a bit of renovation to it as it needs sone TLC so I thought I'd take the opportunity to re-wire it at the same time.
18.
But then again the Wilkinson stamp is not noticable - the strings obscure it and it's not easy to see at anything apart from very close up.
I notice it though, it's really just my own preference, I just think it looks really cheap and nasty. I'll eventually get a plain BBOT bridge and swap the saddles over.
19.
Yes - what you're thinking is fine the black to the jack socket with the black from the pick up to the pot casing & the bridge ground wire too.
I didn't see your edit until after I'd replied! So instead of having the wire that connects to the jack and is grounded to the tone control, it's instead grounded to the back of the volume pot? Along with the wire that goes to the underside of the bridge?
20. Looks a nice guitar but my old flatmate only got £250 when he sold his 03 MIM Tele a year or so ago.
