I got rid of my ODB-3 because I'm another who reckons it was too fizzy, but I have to admit I'm mighty tempted by the Double Muff, mainly because of the 'True Bypass' that the ODB didn't have. I've been borrowing a Danelectro Wasabi distortion which is pretty good, and has the db boost, but when it's not in use it really colours the clean sound
-
Does anyone know what distortion is used on that track? Someone on here mentioned that Thom Yorke played bass on that track, so I don't know if he used his own stuff or Colin Greenwood's. According to wikipedia, Colin uses a Lovetone Big Cheese live, does anyone know if that was used on the recording?
bahh, I got the cab and its awesome, but I was too late to pickup the neck. AUGHH
Hard luck, that's sh*t! Collection depots have a habit of closing early on a Saturday because, er, electricity cos double on a Saturday, and if they don't lock the doors early they wont lock at all. Or something. Quite often I've got to pick up stuff on a Saturday and the place just hasn't been open at all. Lazy bastards. Anyway, make sure when you leave the seller feedback that you mark the communication rating 0 stars.
Can this REALLY be worth £499? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-60s-Paul-McC...1QQcmdZViewItem And does it REALLY say "Vox" on the headstock? The word there seems to be a bit longer ...
I just received a message from the seller of this one, they say it's a Hondo with a Rickenbacker truss rod cover on it. I don't think they're claiming it as a Vox though, if you look at other items they've got, all the Beatles style guitars end with 'for Vox' in the listing. Odd that.

This wiring diagram is confusing
Jono Bolton replied to Jono Bolton's topic in Repairs and Technical
Edit: Ignore me, I'm a spazz. Mine are soldered like that, I've just never noticed before. That's my idiot quota used for this week. -
Seymour Duncan Jazz Bass Wiring Diagram. Can someone tell me why on the neck and the bridge volume pots, the solder points that don't have wires connected look like they're bent backwards? Looking at my Jazz control plate, they haven't been. Should they be? Also why hasn't the unused solder point on the tone control been bent? Am I being really dense here?

Squier Bronco Pickup Options
Jono Bolton replied to thewalruswaspaul's topic in Accessories and Misc
But Warpig put one in his Bronco, look further up, all he had to do was sand the pickup pocket a bit, so it would fit. The lipstick pickup would look very cool though! You may want to change the bridge at some point too, I've never found anything good about bridges where the number of saddles doesn't equal the number of strings. As for the Bronco slagging, they don't pretend to be anything great, but they're good fun and with a couple of small changes they can be pretty good, and there's nothing wrong with wanting it to sound good. I say mod it if you want to, ignore what everyone else thinks. Check the reviews on Harmony Central for the Bronco, lots of people raving about them after making a couple of changes. I found the Broncos to be like most Squiers, good guitars but generally crappy hardware. -
Er, yeah, basically. You got it from the USA right? I assumed that customs would charge you their usual bit on the top.

Did customs sting you for this wmsheep?

Squier VM Precision plus a glimpse at my past!
Jono Bolton replied to backwater's topic in Gear Gallery
Musicmasters crop up on ebay from time to time, but not at that price! I'd love to get one, don't have quite enough for a Mustang but want to get something a little nicer than the Squier Bronco. I picked up a Squier Duo Sonic guitar for £80 a couple of years ago but it was an absolute pig! I think that's bottom of the barrel stuff though, the Musicmasters are meant to be really good, as well as being great VFM. On a side note, your white one is nice, but the Bedouin Soundclash bassist had a blue one, very Sonic Youth! -
400 sovs is just a bit pricey for that, I think. These do come up occasionally & usually go for less than half that - in fact I've seen a project one (one pickup & other bits missing) go for well under a ton, nearly went for it myself. The Epi ET series were Matsumoku built - there were Aria versions of some which were identical apart from the headstock shape. Jon.
Cheers for that Jon. Wasn't sure if it was worth that or not, just thought it was bloody nice. I may watch it and see if it gets relisted at a lower price. But I've seen it now, I must have one!

Squier VM Precision plus a glimpse at my past!
Jono Bolton replied to backwater's topic in Gear Gallery
You lucky bar-steward! I wanted that Squier VM, but I'm insanely broke at the minute Did you take it with the extra bits i.e tuners/bridge/pickup or just take it as stock? Either way was a bargain. I'd love one of those Squier Musicmasters too, the bassist from Bedouin Soundclash used one when I saw them at the QMU in Glasgow last year, it sounded pretty nice. -
I'll give you fifty quid for the 73/77. That's beaut, certainly has acquired some mojo over the years!

difference between squier standard and affinity?
Jono Bolton replied to Bay Splayer's topic in General Discussion
I Googled them, you can get one for under £200, which is about the same as the Standard Series. Link here I quite fancy one of the Precisions though. -
Epi ET-280 That is sexy. Move the strap button and it'd be perfect! Man, if I had £400... I'd probably have to spend it on rent and bills.
what he said!
At least I'm not the one getting married! A friend of mine was at a wedding last year where the groom was wearing converse with his suit. Actually now I think about it, the friend of my dad mentioned earlier in the thread was best man at his friends wedding, spent about £500 on a new tweed suit, and £20 on a pair of new blue Converse Also, in that (Mastercard?) advert where the naked man's running and uses his credit card to pick up new clothes and get cleaned up on his way to his wedding, he's wearing Converse too. Seems to be a popular idea
I buy Lonsdale copies from Sports World, when they're in stock. Unless you're a badge snob, they come in at around £7 a pair and I think they're better quality ;p As for why musicians wear them... Well, I find they're good pedal stompin' shoes at least!
Not a label snob as such, but there are subtle differences in the design that put me off the copies, to me they don't look quite right. Dunlops are brilliant though, the same basic thing, but chunkier and more durable, but they don't look like poor copies.
