1. Sorry, wasn't very clear! There's a button on the ABM amps below the input knob. Pressing it in engages a pre-set EQ. Pressing it out engages the amps EQ, which comprises Bass, Middle, and Treble knobs and 4 EQ boost sliders (180hz, 340hz, 1.3Khz and 2.6Khz).
2. I know there's a few: Who uses the Flat/Shape button on it? Mine's an ABM 300 and I was arseing about with it today because it's still new to me and thought I'd give it a go, and I actually quite like the sound it gives! Only tried it with the P, it's nice and punchy, and little bit middley/trebley but not bad, nicely rounded across all 4 strings. Will give it a go with the Jazz tonight too. I like the sound I originally had with it (everything set to between 1 and 2 o' clock, the 4 sliders pushed up to the third or fourth dot), but I like the flat EQ button too. I sit cheating to use a pre-set EQ? I feel it is
3. Really? I'm looking at about £260ish all together then. Just need to find out if it's worth it now or not!
4. This has been on ebay a few times from the same seller, either he has a few or it just doesn't sell. I think it's the latter. Anyway, assuming I bid on this and no one else does, I'd get it for £163-ish and then another £50 for shipping. What sort of customs charge would I get? I bought a Seymour Duncan Jazz pickup for about £33 last year and had to pay £5 for customs, but Royal Mail chucked another £8(!) on for handling. Anyway, has anyone tried one? It looks sexy, and I fancy a nice 5 string. Would I be better off getting a 2nd hand Mexican 5 string for similar money (or possibly less)?
5. With both my Fenders I've found that lightly sanding the neck down improves things a lot. Cuts out any sort of stickiness but I appreciate that not everyone wants to go at their bass with sandpaper.
6. It wasn't until just now that I realised the Squier PW has that stupid Clandestine Industries logo as an octave marker too! Even if you put some stickers on the body you've still got it on the neck too I understand that that's what makes it a signature one, and FOB fans'll love it, but I must admit it's more than a little annoying.
7.
Not forgetting the desirable yet unattainable majesty of the 4005:
That... is... FOUL! Actually it looks okay up until about the 14th fret when the body comes into view
8. The bassist from Propagandhi had a sunburst non-reverse Gibson Thunderbird. Yes please. I'll try and find a picture.
9. I fancy buying a set of flatwound strings but I've only every bought roundwounds before. Can anyone give me some pointers? What makes should I look out for? I've heard they give you a dull, vintage sort of sound, is that right? I also read somewhere (from a professional bassist/producer, can't think who) that he's had the same set of flats on his P for 10 years and it still sounds the same as the day he put them on. Any examples of good flatwound tone? And would they sound better on my Precision or Jazz?
10. You're pretty close, but you confused me loads by tabbing it out E A D G Usually it's the other way round. Here's a link to a spot on tab. You can check yours against it to see where you went wrong.
11. It's a Triumph. I remember looking at one few years ago just before Alex James started using it. Looks cool but they don't sound too good.
12. If it's any help I bought one for my Mexican Jazz and it went straight on. With other models you'd probably have to mod it a bit, but that's on the pricier ones (MIJ, MIA etc) so you'd probably want a better one on it anyway.
13.
£15 for a pearloid one from here (a Venom one,maybe): http://www.highlystrung.co.uk/acatalog/Pic...ric_guitar.html
Venom it is, they aren't bad, a little chunky but they seems fairly solid.
14.
after a lot of thoughti think you maybee correct-any idea were i can get one ? WD don't list 'em for an MIM. cheers.
Yes they do. They have lots. MIM scratchplates
15. You bar-steward! I want that VMJ but I'm skinted just now well maybe not skinted, but not well off enough to buy a new bass.
16. It's currently on my Mex Jazz, cost about £15 and I've decided I don't really like it. Would trade for a white one or sell for a similar price to what I paid as it's mint (offers?). It's made by Venom, and fits the Jazz perfectly, no problems fitting it. Will try and add pics tomorrow between playing with my new rig and going to the Job Centre.
17. I might take that neck, if you can give me sizes for the heel including spacing between screw holes. It has to fit on a Squier Std Strat body. Do you have the neckplate/screws/missing bit of the locking nut? Cheers
18.
Umm.. its a blue bass :brow:
Yes, but I was merely pointing out that as it's a metallic finish (like my jazz), putting a white pearl plate on it's gonna make him look like he's just escaped from New Found Glory. If that's the look he's after then that's the plate for him. The black would look better IMO.
19.
This is like the bassist community's laminated book of dreams. Plastic Keyboards that catch tears of joy!
Bill Bailey's in the episode of Spaced I'm watching! Some nice Dano DC basses on there, pretty colours too!
20. +1 for both black and white pearloid. I put a black one on my black Precision, and white pearl on my Sage Green Jazz, and pretty as it looks, I doubt I'll ever gig with the Jazz again. It looks too Mark Hoppus now, the Black/Black Precision looks more serious.
21. I'm pretty sure the bodies are basswood, most of the auctions tell you in the description.
22. Gibson Thunderbird?
23. I'm looking to buy a new Precision body and The STRATosphere on ebay have loads of replacement Fender parts. There's a few nice Jap Precision bodies, but there's nothing to say what the difference between the 57 and 62 P bass bodies is. Anyone know? There's a nice sunburst 57 and a lovely Lake Placid Blue 62. I fancy replacing the body of my black Mex P, but I like the Mex neck.
24.
I think that colour is known as sea foam green, very nice!!!!! Basically I'm after a Jazz bass in the colour of Dan Andriano's (main pic on this page Dan Andriano bass) Doesn't matter about a painted headstock and my budget is £500 maximum. So, anyone up for the challenge
Are you sure it's not the surf green? Number 57 here. It's slightly different to the Sea Foam green, a little closer to blue than green.
