1. You had WABC 'music radio' We had the Light programme (and Radio Luxembourg) The difference was amazing (listen to Dan Ingram sometime) I'm sure there's a link to the kulure stuff here.........
2. Back in the day, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I had a wonderful business relationship with Arthurs Press @ Stroud - now long gone.... they could turn round a 100 quad crown(40"x30") order in 24hours, with only a telephone call for confirmation...... (sighs & shuffles off, stage left)
3. Actually, after listening to that Snowman thing, Mustang Santa ain't that bad an idea..........
4. Sorry about post 21 - I misread the thread title - as 'terrible Christmas songs'..........
5. Attempt at being creative - Mustang Santa ? All right, I'm going....just stop throwing stuff..........
6. I've got a clutch of Matamps (valve) and a Crown 2000.(class D) The Crown is audibly 'faster' on the response, the valve kit not so, but sounds 'meatier' (heft?), I prefer the valve stuff, but then it's what I grew up with, and that's important...........
7. http://barefacedbass.com/ should tell you all you need to know.............
8. ............ look at Barefaced?........... vvv try the website - not cheap but very good (imo) vvvvvv
9. Those of us of a certain (ahem) age will remember 'Ready Steady Go' on commercial tv on Friday nights. I notice that the Beeb is now about to launch a Friday night 'new pop show' (oh dear) "Broadcast live from Television Centre, it promises to feature "the hottest bands and artists in the world", alongside interviews and sketches." Make of it what you will...........
10. I used to leave a (real) German Shepherd in mine - never had a problem.............
11. "It's kind of like Barefaced in some ways" Which is why Barefaced is looking to widen its market with pa stuff at the moment (I'd never be surprised to see Alex launch total band kit at sometime).
12. I gave it a miss - no fan of JH & the beeb never have had a clue about mixing this kind of stuff. Shame, because it could have been one of those 'must see' moments. I'll keep playing the originals............
13. "Not sure we will go back." Really?
14. "You can get that old crap anywhere! " Pray tell me where I can get 'old' Oranges?
15. ^ ^ ^ Sounds like the Wardour Street that I gigged in way back when - there's a lot of holes pretending to be 'entertainment venues'..........
16. War - 'me & baby brother' (back to my Sly Stone stuff next?)
17. "I played the Ealing Beer Festival a few years back, using my Matamp all-valve head. At 11pm they wanted all the punters to start going home so they turned on all the floodlights. The sudden draw on the (huge) generator caused my amp to cut out instantly and it was over a minute before I could get it back up and running." I did Henley Regatta for ten years or so with OrangeMatamp (valve) kit - on a generator which supplied the 'commercial' bank (Fawley Meadows) - never had a single issue in all that time, apart from a genny going down one year.........
18. Before you visit England everybody warns that we only have one basic common conversation - 'the weather' ..........when (if) you get here you'll know why..........
19. I'd really like to see some reggae/soul included - before everyone dies...............
20. From my experience, an awful lot of entertainers do not earn that much - HMRC has a load of discretion when it comes to a 'paid hobby'. Any local accountant would offer a free initial briefing...........
21. I've used 'painted' cabs of one sort or another since the early 70's - doings cover out easily & it's all far less hassle than torn tolex or lifting carpet (which always looks damaged) - I'm all for anything that takes the stress out of gigging..............
22. I've always used old-fashioned carpet felt - cheap & good.........
23. I always find it a little silly that people come here and slag off 'x y z' - having regard to the fact that the target of their moans has just delivered a killer set at one of the worlds better regarded gigs - tell me, how was your audition at the Frog & Armpit?
24. How long ago did Kaiser Chiefs stop sporting an Orange amp in the backline?
