" Pray tell me where I can get 'old' Oranges?
3. ^ ^ ^ Sounds like the Wardour Street that I gigged in way back when - there's a lot of holes pretending to be 'entertainment venues'..........
4. War - 'me & baby brother' (back to my Sly Stone stuff next?)
5. "I played the Ealing Beer Festival a few years back, using my Matamp all-valve head. At 11pm they wanted all the punters to start going home so they turned on all the floodlights. The sudden draw on the (huge) generator caused my amp to cut out instantly and it was over a minute before I could get it back up and running." I did Henley Regatta for ten years or so with OrangeMatamp (valve) kit - on a generator which supplied the 'commercial' bank (Fawley Meadows) - never had a single issue in all that time, apart from a genny going down one year.........
6. Before you visit England everybody warns that we only have one basic common conversation - 'the weather' ..........when (if) you get here you'll know why..........
7. I'd really like to see some reggae/soul included - before everyone dies...............
8. From my experience, an awful lot of entertainers do not earn that much - HMRC has a load of discretion when it comes to a 'paid hobby'. Any local accountant would offer a free initial briefing...........
9. I've used 'painted' cabs of one sort or another since the early 70's - doings cover out easily & it's all far less hassle than torn tolex or lifting carpet (which always looks damaged) - I'm all for anything that takes the stress out of gigging..............
10. I've always used old-fashioned carpet felt - cheap & good.........
11. I always find it a little silly that people come here and slag off 'x y z' - having regard to the fact that the target of their moans has just delivered a killer set at one of the worlds better regarded gigs - tell me, how was your audition at the Frog & Armpit?
12. How long ago did Kaiser Chiefs stop sporting an Orange amp in the backline?
13. I enjoyed Chic (my era), but I've got the cd.........someone earlier pointed out that Nile 'tours his ass off' Glastonbury was just another tour date (I peeked at their listings), which is a shame....they seem to be doing a lot of work with Earth Wind & Fire, it might have been a nice idea for Nile to come off the 'it's all about me' stuff & showcase a couple of 'impromptu' guests - let's face it, the man can stand the competition. Barry Gibb - superb - 'nuff said.........
14. Their Facebook site is still running & promoting this weekend..........
15. I've been here - there are times when it's far safer to walk away, any small thing that goes wrong will be totally your fault.............
16. "I've also discovered that the committee has decided £3500plus VAT should be more than enough, as someone's mate specced a Yamaha DXR10 system at that price; I've pointed out that it would run out of steam very quickly in the main hall... " Aah the memories come flooding back - nothing changes........
17. The words 'community centre' sound warning bells - good luck with the committee - one of them is bound to have a relative who knows a bloke that can chuck something in for a few hundred quid(!). Been there, done it, offers invited for a dozen or so torn (but clean) t shirts...........
18. Try registering with Experian & find out your exact position - I did this a few years back when I got a current account declined by Santander - found out that my current flat has a debt history longer than the M5 - got it sorted in the end, but Experian (free on first sign-up) was really helpful.
19. "never give up (on a good thing)' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0ZwCZWPJtk
20. Re the aftershave- This 'no returns' clause is only legally applicable to private sellers. A commercial outfit are legally bound to accept returns under the Consumer Contract Regulations (Distance Selling Regulations wot woz). If they refuse they stand the chance of being de-listed by EBay or Amazon (assuming that's where a transaction was enacted), as well as being liable in law (I think it's a civil matter, though).
21. Dave was very good at sussing out what I needed, the result is excellent....thanks mate!
22. ..........Ask Alex?
23. The problem with white ska gigs is that most of the audience think they belong to the National Front.........they don't - they're just sad.
24. .........pmd..........(doh)
