1. I think I'm missing the point.........
2. Matamp have located some Minimat chassis up at Meltham (I've been there, it's easy to lose stuff in the mill)...nominal 5watt, might be worth an enquire?
3. Ambersil make polish/renovation spray-used it for years on the insides of pub fruit machines so that they looked presentable when we moved them from site to site...it's good, but as far as I can remember, any silicone car finish spray will do the same job, without the pleasant smell, but cheaper. Incidentally...they use WD40 on steel-hulled Lifeboats, it makes them look shiny.......... Edit- Its's been a few years...we used 'amberclens' (blue can)...& 'natsil' (brown can) Neither show up on Radiospares site...I would again suggest cheap car silicone spray, buffed to a shine after it dries.....
4. It does the job...I agree with the comments about gig dates, new pics (obv), and I would have liked the (optional) chance to hear the band in action (gigs are always better than rehearsal rooms imo)....keep tinkering.....it's up & running, so it's all good.
5. I ran sound system shows for years, and always had '2nd jocks' to work with. I never saw any of them away from gig related stuff - it worked fine. Work is work...home is home...
6. Wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole - it's way too much additional work for unspectacular money....I had a similar gripe with Mecca and THF back in the stone age....these large organisations seem to think that they are doing you a favour, whilst attempting to pay peanuts. I declined further work......
7. Salesmen the world over always have their 'buy it now' patter...it pays the rent (I know, I do it!).
8. "Sadly, for me, the sensible bands seem to have faded away and the loud ones are the guys that are still gigging." If the 'loud' ones are still out there......? ? (no comment needed)
9. At a guess, this is a preamp problem....if fiddling with your tone controls don't sort it, you need an amptech to contour your input signal until the problem is sorted......
10. The 'height' thing has got a bit lost in here....I have a couple of BF Dubsters and a pair of Mackie C200 for mid/top (active xover & Focusrite processing), through three Ormat 250 valves, or if I'm feeling idle, a Crown XLS2k (class D)...I wanted tall(ish) speakers & these do well. (yup, it's silly loud...I play reggae & soul, but not often, it's a bit much for a pub gig).......
11. Roberts are owned by Glen Dimplex, which are a million miles away from the original product...(Google it, it's a conglomerate gig). Interestingly (or not) this wonderous idea don't seem to be on their website (or on Fleabay).
12. On first glance it looks like a ticket selling exercise, but I might be getting it wrong... (the intermittent dementia is kicking in again)......
13. I'm thinking that something like a Crown !k Drivecore XLS class D might be worth a thought...as someone said previously, get it from someone who will accept returns.
14. I've had to leave bags at wholesale suppliers receptions for years...it's an accepted practice, not an insult....just sayin'.....
15. Umm..stand by for Alex & Bill...? There are so many variables...venue size....audience numbers....speaker placement.....rms vs required headroom......any jobsworth speaker should do ok in a limited space, it's the long-term practical 'useability' that often strangles this idea at birth for many......
16. Do yourself a huge favour - get their setlist .... assuming that you know a couple of their numbers, it will make your life so much simpler, and for a first gig, mental comfort is all........
17. Try Jeff at Matamp? They are at Meltham, and nice guys to deal with........
18. Oxidisation on joints can/will cause a resistance problem. I used to service pin tables, and the first step in problem solving was to remove all the power supply fuses, clean the holders & replace with new fuses. Amazing how many problems simply vanished.....

20. I seem to recall that one of the (stated) reasons for the split between Orange and Mat Mathias (Matamp) was that Mats stuff was too clean........
21. Add up your likely load & build in at least another 50%.....you need something quiet, which rules out most 'domestic' hire companies.
22. I had a pair of Orange 4x12s (Celestion Greenbacks)......& a couple of Orange 200 Matamps ( sob)
23. If you click onto the media coverage link, there is an interesting page from a June 2015 Somerset paper, where a teenage hopeful is 'already in the top 25, and trying for the £100,000 prize' ....something about diminishing returns?
24. Surely music, at the end of the day, is about 'stuff' that fulfils audience expectations? I don't have a problem with a covers band, a jazz-funk outfit, a dj doing 'scratch & sniff'. or me delivering a soul & reggae sound system set (which I've done since the sixties), providing the place is filled with peeps having a good time......job done.
