1. I would like that big Marshall tube head with 375 watts .I am almost able to afford the Canadian Traynor 200 with 4 KT 88s. Is this amp worthy? I used to own a Marshall Major. Would the Traynor 200 be a big letdown? Are Traynors almost British? I have a MAG600 and a Marshall MB450H now. Should I go to KT88s (again) ??
2. I saw a picture of the main Eden guy and was surprised that he is missing a hand . He has a mechanical grasping "hook". Now that Marshall have Eden the Marshall MB450H 450 watt amp head seems to be out of stock in several internet stores. Is Marshall coming out with a new amp ? I like my Marshall .
3. I think an 810, played at the same volume as the drums, sounds great. After trying to get by with a 210 combo , I got an Ashdown ABM 610 and it is like a 3/4 SVT . I hope someone will help me get it up the stairs when I get home .
4. How did he get that distortion? Is it a Vox amp cranked with a bit of speaker distortion? What speakers and how long before they were blown out? Would you loan him an amp?
5. I have a 1997 Lake Placid Blue Precision and that colour has not been used recently except on other models. [cheaper and Custom Shop] The serial number does indicate 2011, I think.Has the neck been swapped out?
6. Yes, I think the only LB 550 is the one with the MiBass power stage. Musician's Friend no longer list it. That means I will go for the ABM 500 Evo 3 and the ABM 610. With about 20db's of treble boost available , it won't be wooly [I hope ]
7.
Marshall
The Marshall MB 450H head I have is made by the comrades in Vietnam. It has one tube on the "vintage" channel and the "modern" channel is not boomy, more mids. The all-tube head [200 300, or 400 watts, can"t remember except it costs some serious coin! ]is indeed 100% British. - no horsemeat!
8. This amp is supposed to be available in April and cost about $830 at Musician's Friend. It looks exactly like the Little Bastard 550 with the Mibass550 power stage but costs less. Does anyone know about this amp? Is it a Spyder550 in a different box? It has an ABM 550 power stage.
9.
P.S. to all the above - a common reason for fret buzz on the first few frets is that the truss rod is over-tightened, thus bending the neck in a back bow, dropping the nut relative to the bridge & therefore the strings rattle off the frets near to the nut. If you can, try turning the truss rod adjuster about 1/4 turn anti-clockwise, leave for a couple of hours & see if there's been an improvement. G. I agree and this backbow could be the winter weather causing your fret buzz.
10. Alvin Lee could get more treble bite out of a 335 than most Tele players= and that is a good thing! Listen to "Goin' Home" on Woodstock.
11.
Here it is with the close family..... Got it fairly recently and am very pleased with it- good quality and finish - doesn't feel short-scale. Body is sized for bass. It can shift some air - on the humbucker it's a bit scary!!!
I dig it a lot! Notice how the bridge is a couple of inches toward the neck for the 32"scale. These basses can weigh 9.5 pounds or more.
12. I had a black one with ebony fingerboard from 79=83. This makes me miss it a little more.
13.
I really like these, and the sound from that humbucker is lovely. Looks-wise, I prefer the single-coil version of this, but sound-wise, this special is the business.
Lozz, I agree with you both on looks and sound. Did you notice the single pickup version has a lot more fret buzz from lower action? I would raise the bridge some. I think it is better to have four bridge saddles so the intonation can be set for each string. Don't you? I want to get a blonde Squier VM Telecaster Bass when the store gets some in stock.
14. Has anyone got the newish 12 Band Tonal Emphasis Ashdown? If it has more "new string" sound than my MAG 600 I am interested. Is it all solid state? How about the Little Bastard 550 with 2 valve preamp? Aren't these amps less wooly?
15. My Superfly amp is rated at 500 watts and is about equal to my MAG 300 for clean punch. This simple [too simple] version 2 cannot equal a MAG 600, can it?.
16. It looks fine, but the neck-through design makes a Thunderbird have an unusual sustain that no Fender has. My two Jackson Kelly basses [one a thin-neck Japanese and one a fat=neck Indian ] have bolt-on necks and sound like a Fender. The Explorer neck is too slim.
17. The current version has ceramic magnet noise-canceling [stacked coils] pickups. I have the bridge pickup on a Deluxe Precision Bass Special bass and they are meaty [thicker midrange] pickups . They work well with the active e.q. and don't get unpleasantly shrill with treble boost.
18.
i like the bass actually lol. whats that typical yellow telecaster colour called? I want one with that colour lol
It is called "blonde", and like hair, can be almost white to yellow.
19. Is the MiBass 12 cabinet made of plywood like the ABM 410 cabinets? They are birch plywood but some companies use poplar plywood for lightness.
20. I like the looks of the Mibass 112 and 110 also, especially for a practice cabinet. They are 250 watt cabinets and weigh 16kg and 10kg respectively. The Mi 10 is 4 ohms , has a whizzer cone, and is rated at 250 watts. The Mi 12 has a HF Horn/Tweeter, and is also rated at 250 watts. It is 8 ohms.
21. Whatever speakers you use ,use of two heads [Who-style] will help you get biting treble along with a regular bass sound. You don't have to use distortion to get a catchy tone , just go Hi=Fi !
22. Guitar Center have a sale on Acoustic and a 15 cabinet is around $150. The new Ashdown MiBass 10 and MiBass 12 look good.
23. Reproduction Vox cabinets made by North Coast Music in the States { well, one state=Wisconsin ] sell for more than $600. The speakers in this one are probably tired, if not half-blown. Fix it up!
24. Ampeg now has a pf 410 with a rear port ,800 watts, poplar plywood construction, extra deep, with removable casters. It has vintage grill cloth and vinyl. It is $550 in the States.{American Musical Supply] I have come to like Ashdown, especially the ABM 410.
25. That EPI Newport has a medium 32" scale. In the video it isn't plugged in; could be another bass on the recording...
