Oopsdabassist replied to Dood's topic in Accessories and Misc

Hot and Sweaty on Sat night at the culmination of a week of music and stuff (Stony Live http://www.stonylive.info/pages/home/) The place was rammed, and we had a dep drummer who only had 1 rehearsal with us, he was a total star and seemed to read my mind re endings etc. Totally locked in Only had the 1 SEL (swivel eyed loon) who was tanked before we started and insisted on dancing RIGHT in front of the singer for most of night, he is quite energetic and spent his evening avoiding her antics, she finally went on her arse and stayed there, totally unable to stand up, for rest of set..was still trying to dance sitting down though! We ended up doing some extra songs for encores that we hadn't rehearsed with drummer and he STILL manage to nail em...I wanna keep im!!!!

I've used a Sennheiser E845 for years, I swear it sounds better than our singists battered SM58!!......but only when HE sings through it! http://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Sennheiser-e845S-Lead-Vocal-Microphone-and-Switch/4S7?origin=product-ads&utm_campaign=PLA+Shop+-+Sennheiser&utm_medium=vertical_search&network=google&adgroup=All+Products.+Sennheiser&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=6199d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=87922610959&gclid=CjwKEAjw9_jJBRCXycSarr3csWcSJABthk073UWB27OqHJQnerGSlXMFt017CJRdsudcgzJwOpziXBoCRmbw_wcB

That is excellent work, very tempted to buy!

Depending on whether I play my Yamaha (24 frets) or my Fenderish's (21 frets) basses means the common fret positions are in slightly different places in front of me, it takes a while to get settled if I swap basses and can easily result in stuff being a tone out of whack.....I'm learning to love the panic stricken faces around me!

I get that on my work laptop too, something to do with security permissions I guess.

Tempted by the Northampton gig, but I am SO busy this weekend, what with work (bank holidays are busy times) and gigging myself I can't see me making it, GOOD LUCK though!!!!

What period/style of music inspired you to start playing?
Oopsdabassist replied to TheGreek's topic in General Discussion
My musical era is 70's rock and prog, but I didn't start playing bass until my 40's and I was actually learning Police songs when I got into my first band. I'm happy to learn anything nowadays but I prefer rhythmic/grooving over prog widdling. having said that I am still in total awe of Chris Squire and his ability to play bass like that, I just know I could never be that clever, I have tried before now but keep defaulting to 'normal' bass groovin' -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!! Well not me obviously I've not even made 6 years yet but I'm working on it! Love this place and all the likeminded eejits I've met

Ok Here is my purple burst thang I acquired from Karlfer, Custom PG from TimAl to match the burst, a lovely little thumb rest in Aluminium that a fellow basschatter made a coupla years back, (I have black ones too) MIM tuners from the spares box. Also a couple of purple 'jewel' topped knobs that came from god knows where! The neck was finished with a custom logo, but to be honest that neck is a bugger, its way too chunky for me, have recently gained a HB jazz neck which needs a bit of fettling to fit, and I'll probably upgrade the pickup at the same time, as its the original 'no name' one which is a wee bit 'thin'

My basses used to get buckle rash right in the middle of the back, so that was my height, ofc the belly stops that nowadays!!

Bass should ALWAYS be worn low, you're not a slapper are you?
Cheers - thanks for that. I'm going to get through some old AAA's that are knocking around the house and then invest in some rechargeable batteries and a recharger. You seem to be getting quite a lot of life from your rechargeables - which make batteries and recharger are you using?
Sorry mate, forgot about this, eneloop AAA's 750mAh, and a bog standard Energiser charger I got in Tescos, mine is quite old, but this seems to be the modern equivilant https://www.amazon.co.uk/Energizer-Pro-Charger-x-1/dp/B00RZD32EG

That Tim..he do miracles! -
I'm not usually a fan of natural wood basses, but that is utterly gorgeous...I could stare at the pics for hours.......shame its a short scale otherwise I'd be tempted to make you an offer for it!

Just as a point of reference, those 4 leds on the transmitter are very helpful. Batteries, for me, using the rig for about 6 hours a week, last about a month before I recharge em, when you down to 1 led lit, there is still an easy 20 mins of playing time before it starts dropping out.

I would respectfully suggest he wants YOU to change so he can watch your hands to get clues re chords, when I use my E string detuner for certain songs, it drives my guitarist nuts as he can't get his head around what I'm playing!!

You won't be disappointed!
