As I may have mentioned before, I was sat in a rather boring meeting in the Midlands, and I happened to comment to the guy opposite me, at lunch, 'long fingernails, you must be a guitarist', to which he replied, 'bassist actually', within minutes the magic phrase 'ever heard of basschat' came up, it transpired we had even chatted in same threads! small world say I!

I used to have the 15 inch kickback combo..rb3? http://www.laney.co....-right-copy.png It was ok but a bit underpowered, and I still have a RB410 which still gets an occasional outing, heavy as feck though! I have no recollection of the 1x15 in this pick...maybe I borrowed it?

Ok, here's the thing, back in 2007 I was pursuaded by a band member to join ebay so the band could buy a PA, which I duly did. No worries there, before then, and since, I have had absolutely NO interest in ebay or its evil twin paypal, I have bought nothing, sold nothing, not even listed anything. Recenlty the amount of emails I have been getting from ebay have been driving me up the wall, so I decided to log in and delete my account. SO HOW THE EFF TO I DO THIS? I cant find anything anywhere that lets me disassociate myself from the whole shebang. Other than unsubscribing from emails, which doesn't seem to have a made a difference (its been a week now) I can't find anything else to get away from this......thing. Basschat collective help me now!! Oh and another thing, over a year ago I got three very positive feedbacks which seems very dodgy as I have never used ebay...for anything! WTF is going on??

Woohoo! great stuff guys...keep em coming

Which are thinking of, the 250 or the 750? I have a 250 which is plenty loud enough through a 4 ohm cab to keep up with 2 Marshall wielding guitarists, although we are more bluesy than metal. I would say you would be fine with a Reidmar, they are a LOT more powerful than the figures suggest.

This is in fact very true, if we had gone inside for coffee, I'd probably still be there now, it was my chattering teeth that stopped me talking! Great to meet you Karl, lets do it again sometime! As promised, a fledgling bass build thread has been started

A better view of the dodgy spring clip on the tuner It looks like some extra wood was removed post painting, to allow the pickup to fit Yup definitely a bit of tweaking here, strangely though, only 1 set of holes for the PU mounting screws. Slightly more annoying the pickups are a non standard size, both the Mex and the SB3 have different hole centres to the original pickup No distinguishing marks in the neck pocket A bit difficult to see here, but the cap had a dry joint connection on the middle tag, hence no tonal variation, pots look a bit weedy too! Splashed some lemon oil on the neck, which sucked it up like a dehydrated camel! another application later methinks!! More pics as some parts come in.

Karl mentioned one of the tuners was a bit stiff, and looking at them I noticed the flat plate 'spring' on the G tuner had worked its way loose, as can just be seen in the 4th pic. repairable, but not an issue as I have some Mex tuners in the parts box that will fit, albeit the screw holes don't line up. the offending ones already have glued cocktail sticks in situ. He also mentioned the tone knob was completely shot, a close scrutinise revealed a dry joint on the tone Cap. Not that it matters as I have a Kiogon loom on its way as I type, bought 2nd hand from here. The last pic shows 1 dink that has gone through the finish, I'll be rummaging though the Boss's nail varnish to see if anything matches I think The pickup sounds ok, but a couple of pole pieces are starting to rust, I have a Mex PU going spare, and an SB3, with other options also being considered, but I want to keep this cheap so I'm guessing one of the 2 I have will go in. The whole face of the headstock has been varnished, which I don't like, and that decal will have to go too. Any puntastic takes on Fender precision bass gratefully received. I have an idea for a custom pickguard, but discussions needed with TimAl of this parish are needed before I reveal anything. More dismantling pics to follow!

So I bought this rather wonderful looking no name P from Karlfer, based solely on the colour of the body...and the fact it weighed as much as a pregnant sparrow. After tossing a couple of ideas around with him in a windy service station car park re what I might do with it, he nagged me into making a build diary so he could tell me where I was going wrong!! here is a 'before' or two.... Given Karl's buying and selling record I'm guessing every basschat member EVAH has posted here Another motorway service station shady deal goes down, readys are exchanged for a gorgeous purpleburst P looky likey, and Karl has made me promise to do a build thread as apparently my ideas are even wackier than his!! Lovely bloke to deal with, as so many have said before, Top fella is our Karl!
There's a guy on the Facebook barefaced group with a compact and 250 reidmar . From what he says the combo you're suggesting will blow your head off . With good tone :-)
I don't have that compact any more Mark...Its yours!! I do however now pair my reidmar with a BF retro 2x10...sounds awesome!
Time for an update, as I've grown very old. My luvverly little friend and fake grandchild, the 6-year-old from next door, was supposed to play Sudoku on my 15-year-old Nokia. Instead, she quickly ran through the menus and took pics of everything she saw - mainly my dog of course, but also this one of me.
Interesting pic! And a wonderful pair of specs! Is that bar across the middle not distracting? -
