2. My old Squier P bass special, its been played about with as you can see, was originally sunburst, since then its had a fretless neck, now gone, some new pickups, new tuners, won't ever get rid, and I still gig it too
3. I used to have a pair from RS for work, scrattin' around in the back of equipment cupboards, way back when, they were bright yellow though...these look much cooler!
4. Our drummist went with this http://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Shure-SM35-TQG-Cardioid-Condenser-Headset-Microphone/1E0Q?origin=product-ads&utm_campaign=PLA+Shop+-+Shure&utm_medium=vertical_search&network=google&adgroup=2+-+Brand+Level+-+Shure&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=64826d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=84412766959&gclid=Cj0KEQjw6My4BRD4ssKGvYvB-YsBEiQAJYd77XQ0pv3q3XVq4ztPaPLwGDY8WbL0V_Y0ZNbkzpqNKFsaAnXA8P8HAQ For pretty much all the same reasons as yours, sounds pretty good to me. Ofc I have no idea what you call expensive
5.
Had an absolute nightmare a long time ago when the singer started to introduce the next song " Midnight Blues " which starts with the bass riff, and I was supposed to start it gently as he introduced it.. Couldn't remember the riff for the life of me. Frantically trying to attract the guitarist's attention which I did eventually as the singer waffled and he started it instead. Soon as I heard it, it was fine. Singer then comes in in the wrong place anyway.
Great song, we do it too, love that riff
6.
Dancing in the moonlight?
or Waiting for an Alibi?
7. Morning Dave I use these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plectrum-Dava-Grip-Tip-Pack/dp/B00154OJOI/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1460102088&sr=1-1&keywords=dava+picks Nice and grippy and they last for ages, also with all the bright colours, easy to find when ye drop em! Like you I'm a fingers player, but found the some songs just need a pick for speed or attack, these were best of the bunch for me
8. Yup I tend to be a heavy hitter too, especially while looning about, makes playing up the dusty end a pain in da butt tho! (intro to Sweet Emotion)
9. Our singist does something similar too, halfway through last number, cue excuse for mad w***ery by guitarists and a bloody drum solo....I just stop playing altogether and listen to the bottom fall out of the song, then kick into the groove again with a smug smile I hate soloing!!!!
10. Level 42, back in the day. Sister in law bought tickets for our wedding anniversary, but it was a band she and her BF were into, I was cringing at the thought of seeing a pop band, but was pleasantly surprised...was fooking loud though, at the old Wembley empire pool as I recall.
11. Welcome dear boy, don't worry about the stretched out frets, you just need to break and re-set your own fingers...sorted Failing that, do what the rest of us do, cheat and move your hand!!!!
12. Bugger, I kinda liked the idea of a dark chrome set on my champagne coloured P.
13. silly question, but is that normal chrome, or black chrome effect, kinda hard to tell with these old eyes!
14. I don't get playlists myself. I like to play albums from start to finish....must be an age thing Albums on heavy rotation in the car though (I travel a lot for work) Tubular Bells 1 and 3 Mike Oldfield Focus III Focus Yessongs Yes Clockwork Angels Rush Seconds out Genesis Bursting out Jethro Tull Selling England.... Genesis Tales from Topographic Oceans Yes (strange one this this, a bit deep but makes the miles fly by!!)
15. Me 'n Mrs Oops visited Brum library late last year and was very impressed, loved the layout and the coffee shops on site, lost a couple of hours in there easily! Built by my company too....well, not MY company, but the mob I work for.....different bit from me too....not many libraries on railways!!
16. http://www.marshall-...%2018.30.14.png That's either a smile or wind......cant quite remember which it was
17.
I`m similar, though I do make the effort to smile a couple of times on-stage. Luckily as a pretty hard-hitting punk band smiley-smiley is not really expected, but I have had a couple of people mention that I seem to stare the audience out when playing, when in reality I`m just looking to see if they`re enjoying the band. I don`t want to come across as confrontational like that on-stage though, as if a band or band member is unapproachable, well it damages possible opportunities and the crowd may be less likely to talk to you and offer feedback. So every now and then, smiley smiley it is.
Jeez being on the receiving end of a Lozz stare is not for the faint hearted..I can vouch for that 1st hand, and when he smiles after..its like....'yup, that one for lunch...goodie!!' On the other hand I gurn like a loon all the time, mainly to try and hide the feeling of panic everytime I cock up!!!
18.
Controversy alert! To the average Joe, casual listener I'd say these two were one hit wonders. Rush - Spirit of Radio Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart
Nah, Yes had Wondrous Stories way before that!
19.
Video killed the radio star by The Buggles. If I remember correctly, they had a singing bass player with rather big glasses (Trevor something, I think) - I wonder what happened to him?
Trevor Horn...went on with Geoff Downes to join a version of YES, then on to be a producer for bands Like Frankie goes to Hollywood. Geoff Downes formed Asia and later (now) came back to YES.
