2. Interesting colour. Any idea of the weight?
3. you will of course soon find yourself spending more time here talking about bass than actually out there playing bass...It happens to us all! Welcome aboard
4. Yup £7 a pop I believe, or £20 for a years subscription if you make a habit of it
5. When our drummer suggested this song I could have killed him because of that bassline, I'm still nowhere near it! I may be studying those vids for some time..............
6. Interesting, anyone have any idea how much the fiver weighs?
7. *Waves* Ho there from just up the road (A422)
8. I have tears in my eyes, my wife thinks I'm mad...tnx for that
9.
True. And also the band profile shows no name against 'bass' though all the others are listed. I came across the name of a previous bass player by googling the band name and 'bass player'. Then googled his name and came across a video. He is indeed a rather large gentleman. The plot thickens!
Damn you guys really are super sleuths...who needs Scooby Doo?
10. I just ordered one for my Compact, looking forward to hearing what difference this makes. One of our rehearsal rooms allows me to put the compact up on a shelf and it sounds damn good there.....
11. Thanks, shame you are so far away, but I'm pondering, will let you know.
12. Any idea what the weight and string spacing is bud? I'm guessing its a 35" scale?
13. 1st gig after our drummer had just got hisself a new motor, he forgot his bit of carpet and ended up using all his pristine BMW carpet mats to try and stop his kit splaying all over the stage...oh how we laughed.... I actually spent a lot of the gig with my foot wedged against the bass drum so he had summat to push against..did I get thanks? Nah all I got was 'if you stand here all night my fans can't see me! Bless 'im
14. On mine its stamped on the back of the headstock, between the tuners, its difficult to see as it looks like it was stamped, then stained/laquered afterward. I'll get a pic later, if ya want.
15. I reckon I'm a 4, Moved on 2 basses this year as they never got played. Love my Yamaha BBG4 and my 2 P's and although my TRB 5iver is lovely, its a bit heavy so have half a mind for something similar, but lighter. after that...I'm sorted
16. My Yamaha BBG4 S11 always feel pretty small when compared against my other basses On the left here compared with a Jazz I used to own
17. Castors?? Luxury, I have to carry mine around as and when I still use it! GLWTS
18. My very first Bass was a Squier sunburst. Given it now looks like the top one here... Can ye guess how much I love 'burst basses?
19. Fool for your stockings is a lovely early ZZ song, plenty of light and shade to be had there
20. Hmmmmm..how light? is it 34 or 35 inch scale?
21. Had a 5 string version which sounded nice, couldn't get on with the narrow neck though so moved it on, I can imagine a sunburst would look very good indeed.
22.
keep them both. use the 78 for studio / recording for the tone that you love. Gig the modern more playable bass as no-one will really be able to tell the difference in sound in a live setting (they're both P Basses so will sound the same live). Get a nice comfy strap for using the heavy one in the studio etc. If I found the bass that had THE TONE i wanted for recording then i'd never shift it on. You can always sit down or find a more comfy way of using it if you have to do a long session in the studio. I'd also keep a light back up P Bass for gigging and leave the 78 at home (unless you don't mind having it as your backup bass at a gig)
This this and this! /thread.
