Having used leccy tape for more years than I care to remember, yes it leaves a sticky mess and is a bugger. The velcro ties attach to the cable so no, you don't lose em, at least I haven't lost any yet..Ok I broke one, but it WAS one of the first I bought.

Def a bit of a weekend warrior me, been playing about 11 years, got into my 1st band after about 3 months, and was ok unless they changed key or summat nasty like adding an extra verse on the night. been in about 5 bands in that time just pub gigs and the odd festival. Almost always covers so easy to find and learn songs up front. The few originals songs I've had input have been fun to do, but baffling for me, knowing what works and what doesn't...and when to stop tinkering!! I love playing but hate sitting at home on my own, so I'm incredibly lazy and usually learn songs 'just in time' for next rehearsal, plus there always seems to be something else that needs doing All in all I love it and don't plan on stopping anytime this millenium!!

Hand coil every lead about a foot in diameter and use velcro ties like these. A few years ago the band I was in blagged a small interview in the local cable channel, with us playing at the end of it, they told us acoustic only so I just brought my 15Watt practice amp, but even that was too much for their mikes so I had to mime. Never having been on TV before we played merry hell trying to all get a seat, the poor guy doing the link got quite flustered, and was a bit 'off' after...Rock N Roll baby!! I have a TRB5 II bought of this very forum in Aug '13, still has the same battery, still sounds awesome, the one you have def seems to have issues!

Zoom B3 for me, covers all that you asked for there, and cheap too. also a small footprint, which is nice.
