1. Bought mine as a backup amp, but now it gets used all the time as its about a quarter of the weight of my Eden, monstrously loud and sounds great too...whats not to like?
2. Have you checked behind the sofa? the things I find there.............
3. Time for a plug for our very own TimAl, knocks up a very nice clear acrylic with the image of your choice stuck to the back to produce something like this
4. We have a 3m long vinyl banner we put up as a backdrop..never thought of using like that though......bit of a bugger if it gets nicked, but a good marketing ploy...I like it!!
5. It's a shame Roger Daltrey wasn't there to sing with Wilko, the Cd is actually very good with RD to front it!
6. Hmm how about Black Sabbath- Heaven and Hell, and Gary Moore - Midnight Blues, one we do and the other I'd like to!
7. Someone was upset about a non delivered drop tuner earlier
8. Now that...THAT is a Ric I could fall in love with...jammy bugger you!
9. Thanks, and special thanks for noticing the logo, makes me smile
10. The guard or the artwork? TimAl of this very parish makes the guards for a very reasonable price, the pic just came of t'internet and we did a bit of photoshopping to get the right effect. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/247112-scratch-it-original-scratchplates-pickguards-to-your-design/page__p__2610382__hl__timal__fromsearch__1#entry2610382
11. Thanks, yeah it def suits the plain lighter colour, A brass or beaten copper one is in my sights for the other.
12. Thanks for all the feedback guys, for now I have just swapped the plates on my 2 P's, which I think works quite well
13. Yup I have of those, works great and its never slipped on me yet
14. I started as the 'mid life crisis' thing, drums were too noisy and guitar looked too difficult, bass it was then. I was actually one of those who was playing in a band after 3 months, mind you they had to play exactly the right songs, in the right order otherwise I was bu66ered!! there is a youtube vid somewhere of me playing at our 1st ever gig..petrified at the back of the stage, frozen in place lol..I think I played roots all night. Fastest way to learn is get in with a band, seriously more fun and steeper learning curve than playing along at home or taking lessons, but so much more rewarding.
15. Beyer, thats the one I am always being told is best, its what I have for the last 6 years, and it seems bulletproof http://www.gear4musi...xJ89RoCQenw_wcB
16. Possible, one of the pole pieces looks a bit...chewed at one end, gawd only knows what the previous owner was doing with it!
17. Thanks Howie I tried all those tricks already, swapped out the pickups for one of the others in me box and TA-DAA......equal twangage has been resumed..cheers for the encouragement dood, I just tried one of the other sets and it sounds a whole heap better!
18. Guys The P pickup on my steampunk build Squier sounds decidedly weak on the D string, I checked pickup height against the other strings to make sure they are all the same,so not quite sure what the problem is. In my parts box I have 2 other sets of P pickups, the resistance values being 5.7k and 4.7k, doing a quick search on the ole web and everything I can find quotes about 10.5k as standard. So what does this say about these pickups in my box? keep it clean please!! The pickups in situ do actually read about 10.4k, definitely confused now!
19. thanks all....hmmm transparent..now THERE'S an idea!
20. I'm still debating if that pickguard is too busy on the background, I may swap it out for a plain one and put that pickguard on my Mexican P instead...we shall see. Any thoughts appreciated
21. here we are!

Having got the bass back, a bit of copper tape in the routing, next finish of the pickups and connect the knobs to the new pickguard, new set of roto nexus strings and........
23. Blimey that's all my 'build diary' pics sorted. Fast work Tim! Yes I admit I already have the guard in my possession and just for interest here it is 'placed' on my other P, not had a chance to get the project bass sorted yet, so this is just a taster. I think this actually looks really cool on the plain bass...might have to have a bit of a rethink here.........
