Market Harborough working mens club....early 1975 rather embarrassingly this......
Don't be embarrassed, thats a crackin' choon! ooh reet takes me back that -
What bothers me most about this, is that there appears to be a weird unwritten rule that states the bass should automatically match whatever tuning the guitarist is using, when a lot of the time there is no real need and often the fact that the two instruments can't easily double the parts could actually lead to some more interesting harmonic ideas.
I kinda get what you mean there, to play Sweet Child o Mine I just downtune my E and leave the rest in standard tuning, both guitarists whinge at me cos they cant get their head around my only retuning 1 string. Every time they look at my hands for visual cues they get confused. precious little darling's!

Joined my 1st band after 3 months of playing, back in 2002, I learned their 4 original songs and did those, plus Bon Jovi 'Its My Life' as an encore, kept jumping on and off the stage as they peppered those songs all around the setlist....I was 42 and terrified! -
Our guitarists son, set himself up as a session drummer for hire via t'interweb and has got commissions from all over the World, and he has been touring with a band called the Chip Shop Boys who has Scott Mills from radio 1 opening for them last week. https://www.facebook.com/ChipShopBoys/photos/a.10151893143459528.1073741826.6232534527/10152603796859528/?type=1&theater https://soundcloud.com/steve-lees/time.
I could never improvise anything worthwhile, so I learnt it note for note from the record by ear.
Nice, don't suppose you ever wrote it down in some form or other? my improv isn't exactly stellar either -
The bassline under the solo in Are You Gonna Go My Way is epic, took me ages to get that right when I used to play it in the old band.
Makes me feel lazy that comment, I just begin each line with the E-D-E-D motif and riff the rest! Closest I ever get to a bass solo!! -

Big Yes to Radar Love, a staple in our set although the drummer hates it. ALWAYS gets the crowd up. Just started doing Fool For Your Lovin' in the original G too, lovely chugging bass line to play. -

As some of you may have gathered from other threads, we hit Bedford Riverside festival yesterday afternoon, in sweltering heat, but managed to strut our stuff in front of some 2000 people..which was daunting. BUT ... we had dancers after 1 song after a great response after our 30 min slot..all in all a great if somewhat sweaty appearance..roll on the next 1! Musical Youth at Bedford Riverside Festival 19/07/2014

Oops bit of a no no Sorry to say we had GREAT sound on the community stage, but yes we had the one sound guy grumbling and having to run between all the stages, but his 2 deputies were spot on and very helpful. we were on and set up within about 6 mins which I was very impressed with. Friends in the crowd said we sounded really good, so I'm happy, we only had half an hour which really flew by and because of some timing issues we went on about 45 mins late so hope we didn't poach your audience lol. -
I use one of these with my G30 and it's ideal (with a right angle jack lead), although I have a leather strap with the thin adjuster part that goes through the holes, i think it works with other straps up to 2 inches thick. I likes it, looks good on black, to me anyway, I would rock it!
