1. Was just gonna suggest bunging in a John East J Retro pre amp..wonderful piece of kit...then I got to the end....DOH!
2. Ooh might have to invest, even if its just to keep my cats from scratching at my new Eden!
3. I just picked up the very same Eden cab at the weekend, it has both 1/4 inch and speakon sockets, as do Eden amps, speakon - speakon is best way IMO. Not sure about banana plugs on amps, but then again mine is only a nemesis.
4. Great to hear all the oldies chirping up....51 here, didn't START playing until I was 43, been in bands ever since, and luvvin it! The weight thing hasn't taken its toll yet, but I do like a good sit down during rehearsals and after a gig my feet are killing me lol! Just wheel me on..I'll be there playing!
5. I put on one of John East's finest, a J Retro, onto my MIM Jazz, which rounded out the tone NO END, and being a direct replacement for all the standard pots, did away with the max vol 'balance' twiddly issues, great bit of kit, and John is a very helpful gent.
6. Wow, to be able to say...'I played Reading' Gratz man, sounded great!
7. Got some DR Neons on my Yamaha, my 1st outing with coated strings, so nothing to compare them against, but I love em, look..wacky, but thats why I bought em, sound great too, and the coating seems to be lasting quite well, been on there about 9 months now, with no flaking or anything.
8.
Ah. You can't hide your lying A's And your slides, they're a thin disguise I thought by now you'd realise There ain't no way to hide your lying A's
I Lolled
9. Did ya know that Ampeg head is so old..its an original american model, that only runs off 110V? He has an industrial transformer hidden round the back so he can get 110v to it! Anyhoo..went back today came home with an Eden E410xst Not Quite what I went in for....but mighty happy none the less Just had to rush home and have a quick play..cant really crank it up here..but come next rehearsal!!!! Woohoo!!
10. Flippin eck..what are the odds! Was Wee Ross the bassist still playing that Ampeg stack thats bigger tham him?
11. After checking out websites all over the Country, it turns up my local store has a couple of Eden cabs in stock, and I had a chance to A/B em against my Laney too. God Bless Ronnie at http://rockhard-music.com/ Its looking like an E410xst is on the cards if the price is right, figures show its 90lbs, but TBH lugging them around the shop into the studio to play, I didn't really notice much difference between the Eden and my 65lb Laney. Just in pondering stage now..that and checking bank balance lol
12. Rhythm guitarist just scored hisself a sweet deal on a 2nd hand marshall half stack and 100W head .....'kin LOUD. now the Lead guitar wants an extension cab and I am wondering where to go......I have a Laney 1x15 already that I can add to the 4x10, but I've gone off the muddy sound it gives out. Eden cab is one of many I have been considering, the size is right, almost the same as the Laney, which fits nicely on back seat of car, weight is good, lighter than the Laney, and price is great! I'm struggling to find a downside here.....especially as I have an Eden Head anyhoo!
13. Hmm interesting, my Eden head puts out 400W at 4ohm, much less, presumably 200W at 8 ohm, the plan was to get a 4 ohm head to give me the headroom. With the 8 ohm Laney I am running Gain about 1 o clock and master Vol about 12, this gives me just about enough to fight through 2 guitars. Incidentally...why did you sell? Oh and tnx for the quick reply!
14. Arrgh! I think I may be about to pull the trigger on one of these to replace my Laney 4x10, which I love. Having gigged the Laney for several years, its getting a bit...road worn, and the cats use it as a scratching post! The 4 ohm option seems good, letting my eden RS400 breathe a bit better. Is it carpet or tolex covered?
15. Hi and tnx..yeah I meant TB..TalkBass forums.. been on there a few years, never even knew this existed til I caught a post on there cross linking to here. A nexus NX410 is on my list of things to try, tempted to get a 4 ohm to open up the power of my amp a bit.
16. Hi all 1st post here and I have to come to Laney's defence I think, I've been playing my Eden 400 through an RB410 for about 2 years now, and quite often get compliments on my tight, but full and punchy tone., the cab is lighter than most of the potential replacements I have been looking at lately, Ashdown Eden, Aguilar, Ampeg, and is also smaller and easier to load out into the back seat of my car. I keep telling myself I need a better cab, but have come to the conclusion its just GAS. Strangely enough, I logged in here to look for info re alternatives to my Laney! TB is great but very US based.
