My faith has been restored!

Thats pretty much it, these days. There's Charlie Chandlers in Kew I guess but they're very much a guitar shop. There's also Peter Cooks near Ealing but I haven't been there yet. Denmark St has a cluster of shops all within easy reach and some of them have a decent selection of pedals too. Best to ring ahead though to save disappointment.

I can't comment on the classifieds, as I have no use for them. If the forum stays 'as is', I shan't be complaining. If it slides downhill, I shall be in there with my little finger in the dyke, shoring up as best I can. Keep on as you are; it's not as bad as that (yet..!). Just my tuppence-worth. So its becoming a little clear to me with the Voodoosnake and Grand Wazoos threads and an observable drop in general silliness on the forum that there is some tension building within the community. Also, on the admin/modding side we're getting an overwhelming number of reports coming in for the mods to handle and not only can they simply not cope any more but they're being subject to a lot of hostility when following things up. I'd be really interested to find out more about what's going on. Constructive feedback on anything, including how the classifieds are being managed at the moment would be really welcome.

Ah the herd mentality, this is democracy in action. Its like trying to fight a mudslide. You can state your case but beyond that, let it wash over you.

Either - just develop a bit of empathy and the right way to handle things will become clear.

There was a 410 cab on here a long time ago that had two 10" cones wired to separate outputs. I nearly bought it as it could have sounded good on a sub woofer. But I was looking for something smaller at the time.

Yes, I should have said the same thing but have been a little distracted today. The stereo, wet highs, mono dry lows worked for John Entwhistle too. But its a bugger to load/unload unless a one cab solution is available with separate ins.

I have a stereo set up if I expect to be using chorus or delays. It's nice to feel enveloped by the stereo field but when I've used it in a band setting, the lower frequencies have tended to sound a bit muddy in the onstage mix and its difficult to pitch. Better to have a mono stage for lows (say below 300hz) and stereo for everything above that. Low volumes on stage are great for monitoring AND TIMING. But getting the drummer to turn down can be difficult at times.

I think a badge snob is someone who would buy an inferior instrument because of the brand. I have some nice label-snob basses but I bought them because their resale value is generally better than those without the brand. My main bass is still only worth £600.
