1. Ow...right bass but 6-9 months too early. Damn.
2. The relicing doesn't seem very authentic. Smooth wear only happens in very limited places. The rest of it should be chipped. There's smooth wear in all sorts of places where the body wouldn't be rubbed with regular playing.
3. His new website has been up for a few months now. http://celinderbass.com/ The original website domain name is now being squatted on by some lawyer in New Jersey apparently.
4.
Ah, so I'm not entirely nuts, then. Are we still waiting for technology to catch up? I thought the whole thing about Class D was that it essentially runs cool.
I'm not 100% sure that the Wharfedales I tried were Class D, but even Class D generates heat under load. Just not as much as other classes of amp.
5.
Not me. But I know a drummer who doesn't mind a bit having being replaced milliseconds before a huge '80s singles band broke, but really, really minds his one-time musical partner taking their co-invented stage double act and turning it into a multi-million pound internationally franchised show, without giving him a penny in recognition, ever. Harsh business…
Meh, who would want to be Orville anyway? (AH GUUUUNK GNNUUUUWWWWWWWW!!)
6.
That's a co incidence! - I am off to the southern hemisphere (well Sydney actually) on the Sunday, but I will be there on Saturday.
I'm in the process of finalising flights. Hoping to stop over for a night of the 8th so I can try one of Industrial Radio's MIDI basses. Meet you at Sydney airport for a breakfast beer?
7. WTF has George Benson had done to himself?!! Has he been using Michael Jackson's surgeon?!
8. I've done it. The Wharfedale 450w monitor/PA cab I used sounded REALLY good but the range then were prone to overheating because of the extra current needed for low frequencies. I'd definitely do it again if the cooling issues were sorted.
9. Looks like I'm back in the UK the following week. Shame but the timing is just not good for me.
10. I can see the knobs have been replaced, is there any other part of the bass that is not original? The pictures really don't show enough detail of the pick up or bridge and showing the electronics, serial numbers on the neck pocket and heel would be useful too.
11.
Great shout!
The way I figure...if I couldn't sound good with him, then I might as well hang up the instrument and take up tibetan nose flute blowing or something. Would love to have played with Alan Murphy too, his playing makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up - taken way before his time. Come to think of it, I might as well form a zombie band. Drums - Jeff Pocaro (Toto) Guitar - Alan Murphy (L42/Go West/Sessionista) Keys - Richard Wright (Floyd) Percussion - Jack Ashford (Funk Bros) Singers - Aaliyah, Eva Cassidy, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and...Elvis (because, its my zombie band, ok?)
12. I would post something here, but I can't be bothered.
13. Fender bass combos from the late 80's sounded like there was a pillow over the speaker. The first amp I had was a NZ made Jansen 50. Built like a fridge with a 15" cone, 4 band eq and only 50w. But sounded like the Fender. Very low fi.
14. Is that a pic of the actual cabinet? It doesn't show the whizzy cone.
15. I saw them live last year when they were touring NZ. A very, very slick act. They had no problems filling out a 10,000 seater indoor stadium, as you can see.
16. Ped's VIgier has the lowest action and the warmest, growliest, mids I've ever heard on a bass. Its a real shame they never made graphite necked 5 strings.
17. I'm just fascinated to know what it sounds like. Any chance of some clips?
18. Its the cab in my head. Hasn't been built yet. Superlight wedge 1x15 with lots of internal bracing.
19. Sounds like John Entwhistle's bass. Somehow can't imagine him playing it, even if he was still around.
20. [sup]I'm not into Fenders in a big way so haven't seen anything yet that I'd buy...I did feel weak at the Wal 5 with shedua facings recently though and mulled over getting another Mesa Boogie Bass400+. However, I have GAS fair and square for the Industrial Radio MIDI bass that Big Red mentioned recently. First time I've had GAS since I bought the Spector NS5 6 years ago. However that bass would effectively make the MIDI pre on my Shuker redundant.[/sup] [sup]BTW, I believe the recession will officially end this year too, I'm picking up all sorts of clues in the UK at the moment. Local authority workloads are creeping up in my sector of the market along more business development and graduate jobs advertised in the private sector too.[/sup]
