1. Bikinis?! You are in a different place to the one I know. There was so much crude oil floating in the water no one would go swimming in their right minds. Mind you, that didn't stop some... ...when I was 10 we used to do the complete circuit on a Sunday afternoon. Walk past St Mary's into the woods, follow the woods around to the Nav college playing fields, across Newtown Road, down the public right of way past the Nav college to the beach and then walk along the beach back to the Rising Sun and then up Shore Road to the village. Some huge 60's houses around Hook and on Newtown Road...aah nostalgia.
2.
Small world! I still like getting down to the Rising Sun on a Sunday after a brisk walk...
Do you wear yellow wellies too?
3. I recall someone else on the forum having a similar issue some time back. I can't remember who it was though but it must have been about 2007 or 08 I think. Have you considered changing the preamp valve? They're cheap to buy and its literally a pull out, plug in job once the amp cover comes off.
4. Welcome - I grew up in Warsash.
5. Thanks for organising this Bluejay...if I was still in London we'd be practically neighbours
6. I'm tempted but shipping could be a killer, my midi bass is not working and I'm not in a band at the moment.
7. does it sound like a classic fender, i.e. with that mid scoopiness?
8.
I've had a good look around myself using a variety of ingeniously positioned mirrors and a pencil torch, and can confirm that everything's peachy (including my nipples).
Ooh sir! A soft downy fuzz?
So what kind of crack will the team be reviewing?
Ones that make news?
9. We've had real problems finding a web developer. However I met one yesterday and hope to have an estimate for the time and cost of the work from her by the end of this week. Hopefully we'll be able to make some timely progress after that. .
10. I'd ask Damien Hirst to paint butterflies on it and it'll be worth more.
11. She's a bass geek goddess.
12. I had one with a 1979 body. It was ex-Cliff Williams allegedly and recently swapped owners. I've not seen ANY neck dates earlier than 1983. So pop yours open and look for the hand written date on the heel in black marker pen, it'll help put us out of our misery. BTW - through body bridge Mystic and three bolt neck. There were alleged to have been 5 made and yours is the 5th I've seen. Hmm.

My Klein copy. Moses neck, Steinberger R trem and a NZ beech body which sounds a lot like a cross between the warmth of alder but the spank of swamp ash. Redwood top from years ago and Tru-oil finish. I've still yet to install the controls and the sustainer circuit. There are space issues in the control cavity which need planning around. But its coming together.
14.
Thoses basses are very rough to estimate; I bought mine 2500 €..; but i saw some cutlass 1 & 2 for 1400 € too..( in USA they seems to be really cheaper)
Perhaps because their history is better known.
Hi, there, any ideas on the worth of a Musicman Cutlass I pre-EB before 1984, serial number B020678? I had bought this in London at the Gallery many years ago and it was sold as secondhand to me. Thanks for any info. Btw, the serial number is on the bridgeplate, so this is probably dated between 1979 and 1983.
I've only ever seen Cutlass basses from 83 or 84. Can you post pics of the headstock and neck heel?
15. I have everything I need. Doesn't stop me aspiring to own stuff I'd like but I don't GAS for it.
16. Good job the B in the headstock name inlay hasn't been lost. ASSMASTER FUNK would be most unfortunate.
17. Bah ha ha ha. There's a real irony in that while these instruments are become more valuable the older and less damage they have, Damien Hirst is probably one of the few people in the world who could add value by defacing it.
18. Oh they don't make gefilte like they used to...?
19. I suggest you define very precisely what sounds each song needs. If you need mostly saw waves you could get away with a Mark bass pedal. If you need squares and saws you might consider a Deep Impact. If you need squares, saws and sines you might be looking at an Eventide Pitchfactor. The latter two have the best tracking. The Deep Impact has more recognisable sounds. If you need the full gamut of patches on any keyboard then MIDI bass is the way to go. But you'll pay BIG money unless you score a Peavey Cyberbass and pitch to MIDI unit.

Cookie Law

Yes, that's what I imagined too. Who is policing this law though?
21. The loophole has been patched. I can't find any settings behind the scenes that control whether particular user groups (members, admins etc) can access the picture uploader either. So now I'm wondering whether it might be something to do with the patch by Invision...?

Cookie Law

Thanks Northstreet, we take privacy concerns and the DPA very seriously. As far as I'm aware (and I'm not the technical expert here) the only cookies the forum uses are mostly to make the site more convenient to use. For example, remembering login information for when the site is accessed in the future. We can make some adjustments to the registration process and issue a bulk email for existing members. It's not very clear how listing the cookies used by the site is going to help someone understand how their privacy is being managed though...
