1. It sounds good Independent volume per channel You can run up to two 8 ohm cabs a side, giving you a total of four cabs if you ever need to shift that much air 12 valves are biased to run colder than most amps so they last longer

Got wood?
Could still almost buy a bass for that.
Wouldn't be a graphite necked bass though.
4. Holy sh*t. Very limited quantities of the TBX instruments around and they tend to be well regarded. If I was going to own another Modulus it would be a TBX 5 string (I'd never go back to bolt ons and never to a bass from the mid to late 90s).

Got wood?
The Groove was all wood though.
There was also one that had a factory fitted graphite neck, it came up for sale here 3 years ago. Got wood?
To hear the sound of my Status Series II: without the big reverb sound, of course...
Dude, he played a Jaydee on that album - even though the cover shows a Status. I have an Alembic and one of the original Steinberger XL5A's. They sound very different, I love the feel of the Alembic but the Steinberger sounds warmer. In fact I'd almost go as far to say that Steinberger have come as close to the ideal graphite neck as I've found. All of the advantages and not so much of the brittleness. Ped's vigier is a fantastic sounding bass though and has more in common with Status than Steinberger in terms of neck construction. I had three Modulus basses two of which were disappointing in one way or another and one just didn't fit with what I was looking for despite being a keeper in every other respect.
7. I'm one too. Only because I was taught this way. Mark King is as well, apparently.
8.
I've a feeling it's the 2nd clip but there's an element of guesswork as neither clip sounds like my 'Ray
+1
9. Wait till you see him make the bass spit. Unbelievable.
10. Oooh! Outrageous! Who does that Jeff Berlin think he is? It's got me dander up now...
11. Not really. I'm still using the sound of my old Jaydee as the reference for other basses, only its a bit warmer and fuller these days.
12. Me too. "Garcon! More f***ing balloons, I'm hungry."
13. I can't imagine how to get radiussed inside corners with a chisel. I'm planning something similar and will go down the router route.
14. Nice sounding bass although the recording could use some warmth, I really rate the maple topped Alembic MK sigs. Your Wal sounds gorgeous!

16. 80's Steinbergers, 80's Yamaha BB5000, Musicman Stingray 5, G&L L1500 and some of the latest Status basses are offered with narrow spacing as a custom option. Generally a lot of the mid 80's 5 string basses had narrow string spacing and then the spacing tended to widen out after the 90's. I don't think the Spectors I own are particularly narrow by comparison. The Yammie BB5000 is amongst the narrowest IIRC.
17. The V4s are even rarer than the V8's!
18. do they live up to the hype clarky? I've thought about them too at one point. Would fit them to my Celinder but it can't take stock jazz pups.
19.
My recently aquired V4 head is the new baby in my Trace family.Mmmmmmm!
Thats one hell of a find, where did you source it?
I have some older Trace stuff, but you know most of that already, like the pre-MK V GP11 or the AH250 heads to go with that. But I never seen another one of these: The PP33 offers three parametric bands of EQ for bass, mid and treble, each with frequency, cut/boost and q-factor. If you turn the q-factor all the way counter-clockwise on bass and treble they become shelving filters. Clever, huh? It also sports the mandatory pre-shape switch. There´s no date anywhere on this unit but I think TE didn´t offer the PPs long. Serial number is 2119.
Ditto. Why on earth didn't they stay with the parametric eq? It's so much more practical and relevant to managing on stage acoustics.
20. So no-one decided to make a real statement and play a Steinberger XL2A? Bunch of pussies... Jon Shuker told me once that Bakithi Kumalo approached him once asking for free instruments in exchange for an endorsement deal. History shows how receptive Jon was.
21. I'll let you know when it arrives in about 10 days. I prefer narrow spacing like on my alembic, I don't have a bendy thumb on my right hand so it means the higher strings are within reach without pivoting my hand over too much. I listened to this clip of a fretless XL2A yesterday and thought it sounded gorgeous. Loads of sustain and mwah like my Pentabuzz but without the glassy highs. If I can get around on the XL5A coming I might end up looking for another in or to be converted to fretless.
22. Just snagged this on Fleabay. Always hankered for one because I think they're a design classic. But only if I could bag a 5 with narrow string spacing. I've played the 4's in the past and they've been awkward and taken a bit of getting used to but I don't care
