1. Looks interesting. Redwood top? What does it sound like?
2.
CK, why would you want to make such a tiny amp rack size? What's the point of putting something this small in a rack?
Better late than never... ...sometimes it would be nice to use my rack equipment with it but not carry around two bits of kit that need setting up and plugging in.
3. http://www.spectorbass.com/usa/SE/ns-5h2.html Not all of it appears to be working. But I like the way its sort of gathered up a lot of the existing information that was around and put it in one easy to access place.
4.
I played Herbie's Jazz probably a couple of years ago. To say the action is high is an understatement... but it was pretty surreal to be playing the instrument that featured on countless recording and stonking gigs. And as everybody says, he is one of the kindest guys out there and keen to help out all budding musos. A true gent.
+1 I played it in 2006.
5. My modded spectors are damn fine. Knock everything else I've ever tried into a cocked hat. I wish the body was larger and the necks were more similar in profile but apart from that the sound is perfect. Loads of growl and warmth if I need it and my mods add extra versatility. I wish I'd had them when I was gigging. I also had a touch of inspiration the other day and hooked my Shuker up to my EBS Microbass II - one hell of a transformation! Took away the brittleness of the stainless steel frets and added loads of warmth. I love how responsive and even it still is as well.
6.
Actually, where would the serial number be located....he's provided me with it, but I can't see it in any of the photos Cheers Si
On the neck plate or latterly on the bridge with pre EB basses.
7.
This one appears to have a dot-marker there
Are you sure?
8.
hello everyone...Aren't you nice...Apart from all sharing that one book! I'm not playing for Roxy because I upset Bryan by smashing a Bass on the last night of his 2007 tour in New Zealand.. Cheers
NZ does tend to have that effect though. It's the isolation you know.
9. Looks nice to me. Whats the serial?
10. only just spotted this, all I can say is wow.
11. Russ, do you think we're taking reasonable steps? This post is in the most prominent part of the site and features on the RSS feed. The only other thing we could do is issue a forum wide email but we still can't protect people against themselves. Oggy, when did you get the PM? I'd like to check if they're using another account or the one that has been banned. The banned account is dead and disabled, they don't even have access to their PM system but we keep it on file so they can't register a new account with the same email.
12.
I've had the exact same message from a cc25corner in response to a wanted thread.
Thats the account which has been shut down.
13. I use google chrome and the site's been 100% fine for me...and I'm in NZ. Have you tried clearing your browser cache?
14. He'll be reading this thread I expect. Hi Guy.
15. I love the string spacing on G&L 2500 basses that I've played. But they tended to sound a little dark to me.
16. There are a number of luthiers within easy reach of south London who might be willing to help: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26654 Good luck!
17. Thanks to a heads up by EBS_freak, we believe there's a scammer operating on the forum who has been active on other non-bass related forums as well. He has sent the following message: My name is Chris Corner from Madrid Spain...I am contacting you regarding your advert you place on website that you are looking for the above subject...I have it in very good condition and if still interested,Let me know and i will forward you details of the item and i will also need your shipping address and telephone number to calculate the shipping cost to your destination. My mode of payment is Via Paypal,Western union,MoneyGram..Bank wire transfer..Let me know which method you prefer and i ship the next day after payment has been receive..My phone number is +33424029617..Feel free to call me anytime for further discussion or email me back at [email protected] thanks and hope to hear from you soon. We're only aware of one user account which has been shut down but if you receive a PM from anyone offering stuff and asking for payment via any non secure international payment methods eg. Western Union, Moneygram etc. please let a Mod know. cheers Steve
18. The bass needs to be warm sounding. Noone ever funked convincingly on a weedy sounding instrument.
19. I'm surprised your basses don't have zero frets Fat Rich.
20. Walk Like an Egyptian - Bangles I was 15 and our band was on as part of the high school musical for that year. I can't remember what I played, it might have been my Sierra Precision through the schools 50w Gunn valve head and 2x12.
21. Welcome, we've all had to start out at some point. Good luck with the gear hunt, there are a few bargains out there if you're patient.
22. Lovely job! Lets hope for big things!
23.
My first bass a Westone Spectrum 11. Just awful in every respect, quality, tone, playability, I could go on and on. Early 90's cheap basses that come nowhere near the budget end basses today. I think Crazy Kiwi mentioned he had one and would probably support my view.
Hell yes. Goddawful piece of crap. However I've now learned to avoid anything with a plywood body.
24. Nice, I'd be seriously considering this if I was in the UK
25. My 100W heads put out 140w when loaded with KT77s. But I tend to think of them as 100w heads given with any valves other than KT77's thats what they'd be. The Gold Lions may have worn out long ago if the amp was regularly gigged. Stick a set of JJ Tesla KT77's in, I'd say the difference would be minimal.
