1. Ooh go on, please put it in the quotes thread...its been ages since I've been deemed worthy
2. Thanks Machines, its something we would probably need to discuss.
3. You're talking a language I don't understand However if I were to respond in project managment speak, I'd suggest that you were focussing on a solution before we'd defined what the scope of the brief was.
4.
You're not talking about cloaking though are you?
You've lost me, I'm afraid. Are you interested in applying?

Sorry Garry, I didn't see your post. Thanks for that! Yes on the whole life is pretty good. Hopefully will get better when my boss goes on maternity leave...
6. You'll all be taking a laptop as a luxury along with a satellite modem to ensure you can keep in touch with Basschat, so if you buy a copy of Native Instruments Guitar Rig Kontrol you can use the pedal space for something else.
7. How low can you make the action?
8. We're limited with what we can offer by the use of off-the-shelf software. So we'd be interested in developing modifications that allow us to create a more presentable and flexible 'shop front' as well as take advantage of the google bot lurkers that monitor the home page. We would also need ongoing support for managing the security so that spamming and hacking is kept to a minimum. We had two different parties who were previously interested but one is dragging their feet and the other is now subject to a NZ police investigation for fraud. The browsing experience for signed in members should remain unchanged as much as possible.
9. Ped and I have decided to looking for someone to help us out with developing the forum. We're getting increasing amounts of commercial interest but neither of us have the skills to meet the demand in a way that minimises the impact on the browsing experience of our regular members. So if anyone who is interested is reading this, drop us a line with some kind of CV that shows us how much experience you have including references to past clients or employers. We'll keep this invitation open indefinitely until we find someone. cheers Steve
10. Dave if cab width is an issue, then buy two and stick them on their side! I like Alex's blurb. He comes across as a totally benign yet slightly eccentric speaker geek. I think he gets a hard time from this place sometimes.
11. mostly: Bernard Edwards, Meshell Ndegeocello, Sharay Reed
12. Looks like it has a Westone type of body shape but the headless basses I know Westone released look nothing like that.
13. Beedster, drop me a PM with some details of your original post and how long was between you posting and it being modified. I'll take it up with the mods.
14.
Of course having both options on one bass will result in a compromise one way or another but I still think it's a cool idea.
I can think of at least one way to partially solve the problem.
I once asked Paul Reed Smith to make one, this was 16 years ago, and he told me where to get off...
Obviously he has better things to do.
15. It works on the basis of rotating the frets around. Good point about the fret wear but if the frets are made from stainless steel then they are unlikely to wear quickly. The biggest issue for me would be consistency in the action of the strings between both modes. If you set the action for fretted mode then it will be the height of the frets too high when in fretless mode.
16. Probably Ashdown would be worth a first look. SWR is very scooped, EA and EBS are very hifi sounding. Can't comment on how well you could emulate the sound you need with the TC head unfortunately.

18.
This was Homers bass! An only child I'm afraid................
Oooohmmmmmm. OK. That explains why it looked so familiar then...

The tutorial I'm using recommends using an aux channel to route the MIDI output to an audio track. The problem for me in setting up MIDI is that there are many naming options and many setting options and its sometimes not clear what is a name and what is a setting. I can still get things set up but its not clear for example, why I can't hear a piece of hardware when I've set up the I/O options, assigned the right MIDI channels on the hardware and set up the audio channels OK. Yet when I select a MIDI channel that is not the channel assigned to that particular piece of hardware, I can suddenly hear its audio output... ...and despite saving the settings as part of the session, I can never seem to recall them! It was so much simpler in Cubase.

A few things, firstly, how to set up external MIDI gear so I can use it for playback and secondly how to set up the connections using an Aux channel so i can record MIDI playback as audio. Audio is a breeze but MIDI is a real pain.

Any experienced users here?
22. LOL Just don't go there. I know its tempting though. I see some topics that I know I need to steer clear of myself sometimes. I'd suggest its better just to focus on the things you enjoy and forget about the rest. Its just a webforum
