1. They're very uncommon, where did you find it? The trem bar bit can be drilled out of the hole if its done carefully. You'll probably need to get one made but its not difficult. Get some stainless steel rod, cut and bend it to shape and tap the right thread on the end. Someone here might even be able to do it for you.
2.
WHAT A BASS! Put me down for two... ;-)
LOL
3. Its not that important, just choose one.
4. Sure you don't need to edit that link?
5. How about a bolt on maple neck, an ash body, Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder, mirror scratch plate and a badass bridge?
6. The pitch shifted signal is a little cheesy if the tone is set too trebly but in the middle of a band mix its hard to tell. You can also send the shifted signal into a separate distortion unit but I've not had very good results doing that with a keely modded Boss DS-1.
7. Yep I've done it. It sounded OK but more like a cheap late 70's amplifier. A bit woolly. If you have a decent spec laptop then get Native Instruments Guitar Kontrol. You'll have the best of both worlds then.
8.
MATAMP, or wait for the new Burman ( this could be a wait though, guitars come first ), Or as I have done, find a nice 70's SVT and be very content.
I wouldn't get too excited. Gregg didn't mention there are any recent developments when I asked him a couple of weeks ago.
9. Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ would get my vote, would be ideal for classic rock. Marshall VBA400 would be OK too.
10. Run the same question here maybe? http://www.ozbassforum.com/
11.
I also feel a bit of quilt or anger
Time to get out of bed then?
12. When people tell you that all the Monty Python is making their head hurt.
13.
Bijou headstockette
Looks a bit shi-shi to me.
14. No worries I've even sprinkled some magic admin dust on the link
15. If you post a link here, people are more likely to help you out.
16. I think that's a good workhorse Alembic model to own. The Spoilers can be good value for money too, all things considered. The Elans, Spoilers, Persuaders and Distillates I've tried have typically been a lot warmer than the Series basses.
17. I'm not sure I'd agree valves have more midrange. It's possible to design flat response valve amps as well. The Mesa Boogie Strategy 400 I had was a good example of that and the offerings by Avalon too. That 8x10 cab you used would have a very strong mid bias however but not a lot of clarity. If I wanted midrange, I would have gone for a GK solid state head myself.
18. Nah, people have waited longer for the proceeds from a consignment sale. I think the record stands at 3 months and the threat of a sit in protest.
19. My Spector sounds like the aural equivalent of a Whittakers Peanut Slab. The thing I like about it most is how warm it is and articulate in the mids without sounding overly aggressive.
20. I'm not one. I had one on a custom jazz bass. The base plate didn't have any grooves for the saddles to sit in so the saddles could move all over the place.
21. All that scares the bejesus out of me. I'd be climbing the walls like a caged animal after a few hours, let alone a few days. Kudos to you for your hard work, committment and dedication.
22. The user manual lists 120v as the voltage requirement for the English version and 240v for European languages. So I'm guessing the transformer can be tapped for either as it wouldn't be cost effective for Peavey to build units using single voltage transformers.
23. Live if possible. But the music I listen to most is rarely performed live. However I have about 80 concert DVDs in my collection of other genres. No metal, country or opera but have pretty much everything else from Avril Lavigne through to Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea.
